You know, it wasn't that the room wasn't beautiful, it was! (We had a 1 King with a pull out sofa) The room was very spacious, with beautiful furnishings. At first glance, I was very impressed. It included 2 big windows, a separate 'kitchen area' (more like a wet bar), a desk area, a sofa w/coffee table and 2 side tables, and a big vanity area which was outside the toilet room. Apparently this room could be a conjoining room... which we found out when the kids on the other side of the room opened their door early in the morning and was banging on ours. We loved the space because after keeping the kids so close at West Edmonton Mall the Saturday before Christmas, they needed room to play.
We went down to the pool area for a little relaxation. It was so nice to have a toddler pool, so the kids could play, and the waterfall thingy was nice, but the pool was COLD!!!! Too cold for the kids to really enjoy. I really wish hotels paid more attention to this. Also, just a side note, the pool deck was SUPER slippery. Wet-tile slippery. (not a good choice for a pool deck) Children or the elderly would have trouble keeping their feet under them. The pool also had a big black ring around it... obviously from not being cleaned. And the hot tub had so much chlorine in it, we smelled it on ourselves after several showers.
Getting ready for bed changed everything. We noticed the bathroom wasn't in the greatest shape. Nothing you call down about, but there was no attention to detail. Hair in the tub, floor kind of dirty and dirt in the corners. (side note - no bathroom fan?) Then we went to pull out the sofa bed... DIRTY! Not made... maybe for several stays? Gross. So, we called down and let them know. Within a few minutes, the house manager (I think thats what they called him) came up to change it. That was nice as it was getting hard to keep our overtired kids from climbing on it. YUCK. Anyways... then we all attempted to sleep. The kids did not too bad, but the husband and I didn't feel comfortable. Not sure if it was the bed or the horrible pillows or what.
Apon waking up, realized they had slipped the bill under the door. It was the wrong price. And apparently even the wrong reservation? We had been checked into someone else's room. When we went down for breakfast (which wasn't great, but fairly normal for a continental breakfast), I brought up the mistake to the front desk agent, who apologized, and promptly changed it. No questions asked. Again, another point for the customer service.
Overall? Kinda disappointed. Not sure I'd stay again. Didn't really feel like the extra money was worth it.
