“Charming but ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Loved the corner suite with ensuite bathroom with clawfoot tub. Unless of course you like to shower, then you are out of luck.
Clean, quiet, welcoming establishment.
However, don't plan on exceptional food service in the restaurant.

Room Tip: 2nd floor corner suite is lovely

“Charming trip back in time”

I won my stay at the Hotel Selkirk and will go back. It's a charming period hotel nestled within the grounds of Fort Edmonton Park. Peaceful and relaxing within the bustle of the city. The staff are dressed in period costume and some take on the role of the folks who roamed the hallways during the hotel's hayday.
The clawfoot tub and teddy bear no my pillow won me over. The room was small but very comfortable, clean and well maintained.
Dinner was a treat. During the day you can go through the park and enjoy whatever there is to offer on the day. During the evening looking outside you feel you've stepped back in time.

“Fun - different setting for our long trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

We stayed here on our way to Anchorage on our Harleys....so we when we arrived - the dirt roads were not what we had expected....but not a problem. (Easy for me to say - I was just the passenger!) :)

The hotel is ON the grounds of Ft. Edmonton Park so you can spend your day there at no additional cost. It's an amazing place!

The WIFI access didn't work from our room. I would recommend they work on that. On vacation...most everyone wants to be able to connect with their friends.

The price of the food in the restaurant was out of our "comfort range" - but they did make a recommendation that we might find something on the "bar menu"...we did and were very satsified. Since you are away from the city....it was just easier to stay there and eat.

The employees are friendly and helpful. Russell (in the hotel restaurant) was amazing. He was very attentive to our table...and added to our fun with his great personality.

Yummy truffles at your bedside and you get a cute bear to take home as a souvenier of your stay.

“What a great historic hotel with comfy rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

It's hard to get them to answer the phone to make a reservation, but if you are as dedicated to staying there as I was - it was a great place! The food is pricey in the restaurant but fun. The employees are friendly and helpful. Russell was our waiter in the evenings and he was terrific!!! It is right ON the grounds of Ft. Edmonton Park so you can spend your day there at no cost. It's an amazing place! The internet worked great one day but not at all the next day - so they definitey need to work on that.
Enjoyable stay & you get a cute bear to take home and remember your stay.

“No TV but more than compensates with other bonuses. Wish it was open year round”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2010

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in in Edmonton. It is a shame it is only open part of the year. At $120 including tax for a king or two twins it is great value as this includes park admission. While the room may be slightly smaller than at some hotels it is much cleaner and comes with a modern bathroom. Continental breakfast is no longer offered but there is a breakfast menu (2 eggs, bacon, & hashbrowns - $9.50). I have been recommending it to all my friends.
