Stayed in Days Inn Suites West Edmonton for 2 nights for a back to school shopping fun trip with my son. My hand made/hand beaded, smoked moose hide moccasins were stolen from my room while out shopping. I brought these slippers with me because I have issues with circulation and my feet get very cold and quite sore expecially in the evening. These slippers were a gift, one of a kind, never to be replicated and can't be replaced. I reported this episode to the manager, housekeeping manager and hotel owner (or so that was what I was told). The hotel owner suggested I go home to see if I may have left them at home. I was appalled by this response as I had just worn them the night before. Prior t leaving my room, my suit case was put up on a chair completely out of the way for the cleaning staff to attend to my room. It would never have to be moved or touched. I had put my moccasins under the handle of my suitcase (which fit snuggly) and placed my large wool sweater across the top of the suitcase, which had hidden my slippers from view. They would have had to lift the sweater and take the moccasins out of handle, which they did. The hotel owner has really done nothing to date. He said he could watch the security cameras to figure who had gone to the room, but as of this date, August 30th, I haven't heard. The cleaning manager told me only one person was assigned to that 4th floor, only one person would have been in my room. Can those card keys tell when they cleaned the room? I'm not sure, but as far as I'm concerned, it is theft and I could never trust that hotel again. And did that person also go through my personal belongings in my suitcase?! I couldn't really say for sure, I was so taken by this selfish act, that I didn't really check much else at the time. My advice to anyone planning on going to Edmonton to shop, BE CAREFUL FOLKS, there is a thief at the Days Inn and Suites West Edmonton Hotel. There are many other hotels to choose from, I'd check those long before I ever stay at the Days Inn and Suites West Edmonton Hotel.
