“Still very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We returned to La Boheme after several years because we received a gift certificate.

We had the van Gogh suite, which is romantic and has lots of character. The bathroom was a bit of a problem, there are no surfaces or counters to put anything!

We had a very enjoyable dinner which was well-prepared. The service was very pleasant and efficient. The young lady knew very little about wine but she tried very hard to accommodate us picky pseudo-connoisseurs. Then she also deserves credit for helping us when we had trouble with the stereo in our room.

The breakfast is "continental", i.e. croissants, juice, and some fresh fruit. No hot dishes.

The total cost for the dinner and room, including $70 for the wine was between $250 and $300.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so if you have lots of luggage or if you have trouble with stairs ask fir a ro...

“Quiet, large room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

The room was 2-bedroom, living room, 4-pc bathroom & kitchenette. It was important for me to have a kitchenette because I was taking a course and wanted to make my lunch for each day and prepare a thermos of coffee to take also. I asked for a cereal bowl and other items to complete the usefulness of the kitchen and was given them quickly & easily. It was nice to have a choice of whichever bedroom to sleep in. They give you a key to the front door to leave & lock up in the morning, because it's also a restaurant and nobody was around in the mornings. It has a TV and radio and they will give you the passcode to use the wireless internet available for your laptop.
CONS: Not enough hangars for one person, let alone a family.
NOTE: It's a walk-up to the 2nd or 3rd floor suites.

“Wonderful Evening Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2010

We stayed for the "Great Escape" package for our anniversary.

It was was a very enjoyable evening. A lovely 5 course French meal, and a decent wine menu. Wine and cheese was waiting for us back in the room.

We had a great conversation with the owner during Dinner, who was very pleasant. I would have to say he was the best part of the experience. He made us feel very welcome. He mentioned that over half of his customers are local. This is a bit of a shame, since it would be fantastic accomodations for visitors to the city.

My only criticism is the appearance of the hotel. There are a few areas that could use repair (ie, plaster ceiling), but it actually manages to add charm. Just don't expect a 5 star Fairmont hotel, and you won't be dissapointed.

“"over the top" with service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2009

We arrived at a this wonderful european style B & B at 8:30 on a Sunday night. Greeted by a middle aged man. We let him know that we were hungrey after being on the road all day. At which time he had let us know that they kitchen had closed 45 minutes earlier and took us upstairs to our suite. We stayed in the Buenos Aries 3 bedroom suite. It was a little big for just the two of us, had a wonderful fireplace. About 5 minutes later the phone rang they opened the restaurant back up WOW. food was amazing like the service. The next day we moved into a one bedroom suite offered by the staff to try the VanGogh WOW again
We will be back

“Lots of character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

We took the "great escape package" -- one hight plus 5-course dinners plus continental breakfast served in our room. We enjoyed the experience -- the food was outstanding; the suite had lots of character - it came with a fireplace, three(!) bedrooms, and a sitting room. The hotel was built in 1912 and it does need renovating. The carpets are worn. Our only other nitpick is that the wine list was a bit short and uninspired.

La Boheme is authentic, romantic and charming, as long as you don't expect great luxury.
