“Quiet, large room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

The room was 2-bedroom, living room, 4-pc bathroom & kitchenette. It was important for me to have a kitchenette because I was taking a course and wanted to make my lunch for each day and prepare a thermos of coffee to take also. I asked for a cereal bowl and other items to complete the usefulness of the kitchen and was given them quickly & easily. It was nice to have a choice of whichever bedroom to sleep in. They give you a key to the front door to leave & lock up in the morning, because it's also a restaurant and nobody was around in the mornings. It has a TV and radio and they will give you the passcode to use the wireless internet available for your laptop.
CONS: Not enough hangars for one person, let alone a family.
NOTE: It's a walk-up to the 2nd or 3rd floor suites.

“Wonderful Evening Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2010

We stayed for the "Great Escape" package for our anniversary.

It was was a very enjoyable evening. A lovely 5 course French meal, and a decent wine menu. Wine and cheese was waiting for us back in the room.

We had a great conversation with the owner during Dinner, who was very pleasant. I would have to say he was the best part of the experience. He made us feel very welcome. He mentioned that over half of his customers are local. This is a bit of a shame, since it would be fantastic accomodations for visitors to the city.

My only criticism is the appearance of the hotel. There are a few areas that could use repair (ie, plaster ceiling), but it actually manages to add charm. Just don't expect a 5 star Fairmont hotel, and you won't be dissapointed.

“"over the top" with service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2009

We arrived at a this wonderful european style B & B at 8:30 on a Sunday night. Greeted by a middle aged man. We let him know that we were hungrey after being on the road all day. At which time he had let us know that they kitchen had closed 45 minutes earlier and took us upstairs to our suite. We stayed in the Buenos Aries 3 bedroom suite. It was a little big for just the two of us, had a wonderful fireplace. About 5 minutes later the phone rang they opened the restaurant back up WOW. food was amazing like the service. The next day we moved into a one bedroom suite offered by the staff to try the VanGogh WOW again
We will be back

“Lots of character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

We took the "great escape package" -- one hight plus 5-course dinners plus continental breakfast served in our room. We enjoyed the experience -- the food was outstanding; the suite had lots of character - it came with a fireplace, three(!) bedrooms, and a sitting room. The hotel was built in 1912 and it does need renovating. The carpets are worn. Our only other nitpick is that the wine list was a bit short and uninspired.

La Boheme is authentic, romantic and charming, as long as you don't expect great luxury.

“Very elegant, relaxing and delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2009

After reading other reviews of La Boheme's restaurant, I was a little worried. In the end, though, our experience was not a disappointment at all. We were 15 minutes late but were still given a nice table by the window. Our server, Adrian, was friendly and very knowledgeable about the wine, and when dessert took a little while to arrive, he reassured us with humour that it was still coming. The carrot mint soup was refreshing, the garlic sauce with the mussels was flavourful, and the presentation of our dinners was well done (with the doneness of the meat cooked as ordered). My only complaint would be that the peaches used in my dessert were canned and not fresh. The piano player's improvisational skills were a little rough, but he did his best to field requests and cover a variety of music genres. From start to finish, we were there for 2.5 hours, but this kind of restaurant is not one to rush through. All in all, it was a lovely evening.
