“Many things to like!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

High - room amenities and style; friendly, efficient service,
Low - Location - Not a pedestrian friendly neighbourhood

My room looked recently redone, and was appealing decorated. The bed was really comfortable - I slept soundly every night, despite being close to the elevators. Everything was very clean, and those little details like extra towels, and free wifi made for a really pleasant stay . Having laundry facilities in the building was convenient., The staff were always knowledgeable and helpful. The desk clerks arranged to store my bags for a few hours after checkout in a locked luggage room until my flight later on, , allowing me one last trip into the city sights. There is a great ambiance about this place - almost every time I came through the lobby, there were people sitting in the big armchairs by the fireplace, chatting or reading.
If the pool and water slide are important for you , they were still not open when I stayed there. That didn't bother me, but it might if you had children.

Only real drawback is that the area surrounding the hotel is mostly commercial, and few sidewalks if you want to go for a walk or need to get supplies . The only real criticisms of the room were a closet bi-fold door that was sticky when it opened , and an ugly hide-a-bed couch that seemed out of place with the bigger makeover.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to submit your review. We appreciate guest comments, and strive to always improve on areas in order to provide our guests with a pleasant relaxing stay. We look forward to serving you in the future. The pool area is a second phaseof the renovations, and due to circumstances beyond our control there has been delays with drawings and final approvals in order to proceed. We do look forward to the complete hotel being finished to be able to provide our customers with as many ammenities as possible to enable their stay to be a more pleasant one.

“Ramada...? Really...? Consider another hotel...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

Wow - I thought Ramada was a bit of a premiere chain. Maybe they are - but certainly not the Ramada Edmonton South location. What a dump.

They're whole reason for being was their water park. When we checked in, we were told the water park was closed and had been for the past 6 months. They weren't sure if it would ever be opened again. So, no pool or spa...

We stayed for a couple of days and we were gone during the day. However, when we came back for the evenings, our room was never made up. I had to call for clean towels, soap, and shampoo. So, not sure what the deal was, but if you're whole business model relies upon providing clean accommodations, the Ramada Edmonton South failed epically.

So - look elsewhere. Consider another hotel chain.

I would like to apologize to this customer for the inconveneince during their stay and will be looking into the situation. The only time a room is not cleaned is if a DND sign was left on the door or the customer tells the room attendant they do not want service when they go to that specific room., If the customer could contact me directly I would be more than happy to discuss directly with them. Our hotel policy is all rooms are cleaned and refreshed daily. If a staff member has missed a room it is addressed directly with them, as this is not at all the kind of standard we provide to our clients.
I can assure you this is not the standard we provide to our clients at all, and a very rare occurance. I do hope you will give us another try in the future to be able to provide you with the custoemr service you deserve. I look forward to hearing from the client directly

“You could not pay me to stay here again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

the price was right, the time frame short. We were in Edmonton for 15 hours. The plan, car, get some supper, go see a few movies and then back to the room for a 7am flight.
Of course i took the reviews on Trip Advisor with a grain of salt seeing they were not current and most complained of the renovation going on. I can live with carpet that needs to be changed or work in the building being done
what I can't live with is paper thin walls and the remains of a bridal party that is staying an extra night. i figured we were safe due to it being a Sunday night but I was mistaken
We went to bed around 11pm to be woken up by kids running up and down the hall and the amazing ability to hear and make out conversations in the hallway three rooms away.
I had to phone the front desk to complain and had someone talk to the group 10 minutes later. This happened two more times and led to us missing our flight cut off by 5 minutes.

I will say, the front desk did give us a 20% discount and was very apologetic, but the discount was not worth a return trip to this hotel

That aside, the price was great and the location to south Edmonton great, but we chose to stay at a different hotel on the way back home

The elevator cabs are also very small and will only accommodate 3 people with luggage

“Decent Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

My husband stays there a few times a week and stays in 348, 448 or 548. He called to the evening before to ask if I could check in early as I was meeting him there. They said it "depended" but to call the next day, so I I waited until 2 pm and then went to the hotel. They advised me the room wasn't ready, yet they didn't offer to put me in one of the other rooms that is reserved for my husband, so I left for a few hours until my husband was off work. The pool has been "under repair" for a few weeks and no sign of when it will be up and running. The elevator looks in need of repair but the rest of the hotel seems well kept and clean. The room was nice enough and clean and better than I expected. No flat screen TV however and my husband was having problems with their free wifi for the last two weeks that he stayed there. No complimentary breakfast and the rate management gives him for staying multiplenights is ok, but I'm sure if I looked, I could find him a better rate. Has a microwave and minifridge with close proximity to Supertore and restaurants and easy access to the Queen E when it's time to head home to Calgary.

Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to place your review, I am sorry we did not meet all yoiur expectations. I have looked into the situation, and we always try to accommodate guests requests. I have addressed the issues with the staff accordingy, and due to the fact that your husband prefers the specific rooms, we only had one for arrival which was the one we were waiting for. I can assure you this is not the kind of customer service that we provide and I have discussed your concerns with your husband to assure him this would never happen again and if we can move his request to another room type if needed in the future.

“Our room was used for a napping room by someone.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011
2
people found this review helpful

We entered "new room" the bed was a little messy and the pillow crunched down like someone had napped on it. I had drove from SK and needed to use the washroom immediately so I walked in and there was poop stains on the inside of the toilet, the soap was opened and used. It was then I realized someone entered after it was cleaned to nap and use the washroom.

I went to the front desk and complained, they offered an excuse not an apology. We got a new room.

The next morning I brought it up with the desk person hoping they'd accomodate by offering a discount for the inconvenience AND on the basis that in the past few months we had stayed there probably 10 nights already. Instead the front desk person confronted the cleaning staff in front of me. I had made a formal complaint to the management and upon the next stay was hoping they'd give us a discount of sorts and never receieved such. There were even e-mails exchanged.

Based on the way they handled this they've lost my business, I have to stay in Edmonton a lot too.

First of all let me apologize again to this customer for this rare incident that happened. This was a misfortunate event and one that is not at all the kind of service we provide and was looked into immediately. I did have one email from the guest, but never came to me directly but through channels, but I did respond to immediately. We did move the guest immediately to a new room, and if this guest has been staying with us since, I am surprised they have not contacted me directly when they were in the hotel. We strive to provide all our customers with good customer service.
