This was my second stay at the Greenwood Inn and definitely my last. We booked online for a great rate of under $100 per night for two queen beds.
The rooms were old and quite outdated, the bathroom was rusted and worn, the wall had red stains which could have been anything (but it strongly resembled blood). The room featured an old "tube" television which I have not seen in years.
However the very worst part of our stay was the room next to the train tracks. We understood this when we booked our rooms and since we live in a downtown condo blocks away from train tracks and a fire hall, we thought it would the just like home. However on a Friday night, the consistent sounds of the train passing by with the rumbling of our beds from 1am to 4am kept us up all night. Our experience was nothing short of horrible and I cannot believe this hotel charged money for an old, updated room with no moments of peace and quiet.
We prepaid for 2 nights but the first night was enough for us to forfeit our second night's stay and move to another hotel at our cost. The staff didn't seem to care that we were checking out a day early and forfeiting our paid night. In all fairness, I did not feel it was right to take my frustrations out on the front desk clerk as it was not her fault that there is no scheduled renovation or that the hotel was situated right next to the train tracks.
