“Beware: Trains crossing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

I don't know what I was thinking not doing my research before I booked here, but I had a workshop to attend in the hotel so it seemed a no-brainer to stay onsite the night before. I booked via the hotel's site and noted the option to upgrade to a west-facing room but made an assumption that it was all about getting a better view. I would be arriving around midnight so that wasn't terribly important to me.
Oops.
To say the train is loud is an understatement. Luckily for me, I was six floors up and turning on the heater/air conditioner fan provided enough white noise that I was able to sleep a couple of hours before the train became impossible to ignore.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how the hotel gets any guests at all with the industrial trainyard being right there, but there you have it.
Having said all that, the buffet breakfast was pretty decent, the staff were fine and the renovated bits looked wonderful. You won't necessarily be miserable here, and if you can avoid the train you may even enjoy it.

Room Tip: Choose the upgrade to the quiet (West) side of the hotel if you need sleep.

“Horrible experience!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

My boyfriend and I along with two friends stayed for two nights for a wedding. First off when we first checked in they messed up on that, than our keys kept deactivating and we had to keep going to front desk....so we went through slot of keys. Also when our friends went back to the hotel at 3am saturday they locked them out of the room. They told them they had to clear the bill before they could get back in. Our friends credit card was in the room and they would not allow him to get it so not only did they treat all of us like garbage but doesn't that contradict booking with a credit card like we did... So no idea what the front desk was thinking at that point. Now to end this as there was much more! Our last day we went to check out and somehow we were already checked out??? No idea what happened to this place as it was my third time there and it will be my last.

Thank you for providing us with feedback that will help us improve the quality of service that customer's expect. Credit cards provided over phone when making reservations must be verified with a Government Issued photo ID upon arrival at the hotel, therefore the Credit Card holder must prove identity which can't be verified over the phone; third party Credit cards can only be used when the proper paperwork is completed prior to arrival.
Room keys are programmed for the number of days that customers will be staying at the hotel, if a room key is placed near a cell phone, the key will be demagnetized and a new key must be reissued. We apologize for the inconveniences that you experienced while staying with us and we look forward to serving you in the future as your patronage is very much appreciated.

“not a good place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

My family and I checked at the front desk it was a little unorganized. The rooms were dated. The bathroom sink was cracked and stained. The trains were so loud ,if you stayed in the back of the hotel.
The restaurant in the hotel ( Daltons ). The service was not good .The food was disgusting. We could not eat it. We paid our bill and left. SOME IMPROVEMENTS

“Pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

The hotel was very nice and quiet at nights. We stayed there for Grey Cup 2010 and went with a group of friends. We were kind of loud and didn't get one noise complaint as well as at night when you wanted to sleep it was very quiet. The room was a little small we had 4 girls in there but it was good for sleeping. The location is pretty good. About a 10 to 15 minute drive to the bar strip and to the mall. But close to Hudson bar which was fun! Overall I'd stay there again.
