“I would never recommend this place to anyone and will not return”

I stayed here with my husband and 2 children in a 2 double bed room. The lobby was fine and looked clean but when we got to our room we found it to be dirty. The floor, the blankets, the tub. Wallpaper was ripped in places and the room was definitely too small for the 2 beds they crammed in there. The room as well as the hallways stunk of stale cigarette smoke. I was afraid someone could get through from the adjoining room the entire time. We were told there was wireless internet but found out it couldn't be used in the room. While it was cool that there's a pool and waterslide, it was very difficult to use considering the employee in the waterpark kept dumping so much chlorine in it not minding that we were right there..that we had to leave. I could go on but what's the point. I will never return to this hotel. I think the only reason people keep getting sucked in is because of it's proximity to West Ed Mall and they have a waterpark.

“Sleepy Bear Room... kids loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

We really enjoyed the convenience of adjoining/connecting rooms. To have the children in a theme room all on their own was just great. The pool with slide and hot tub were a nice way to unwind and the extended hours of operation allowed some extra time before check-out. Also we found the staff extremely friendly and helpful with directions.

“Disgusting!!!”

Do not stay here, this hotel is filthy and the rooms are TINY! Bedding was not changed from the last people and there was lots of hair in the bed that was supposed to be fresh. Stayed one night because we were exhausted and it was a mistake. Pool was nasty, halls and rooms smelled of smoke.

“DO NOT STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

From the time we pulled into the parking lot, I was worried. The building looks so run down. The lobby was ok and the staff were very nice. We booked a sleepy bear room for our kids and on our way to our room all we could smell was smoke (non smoking floor). Our room was sooooo small and dingy. The light switch was filthy, one of the lamps had a broken off switch. The bathroom was clean overall other than the door knob area where there were many dirty finger prints, the shelf was falling off the wall, the sink was so old and stained, same with the bathtub. The shower curtain was nasty, the mini fridge was all dented up, we couldnt open the small closet because the a/c was behind it, the phone was obviously from a smoking room (and had been in a smoking room for decades it seemed).
The carpets in the room were clean, as were the beds, but the hallway carpets were stained.
We were staying in a family room, yet there was a pet friendly room above us and could hear the dog staying there. My kids couldnt nap because of the howling dog upstairs.
There were kids running up and down the hallway on our floor and the one above and it was so loud.
The cleaning staff bang the doors closed everytime they go in and out of a room to clean.
Overall this was an aweful place, I felt so dirty.
I give this hotel a 1 because the pool was actually clean, although it was too cold for my kids to swim in.

Your feedback on our hotel is appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review for our hotel. We do respect your opinion and are distressed that you had a bad experience during your stay. We appreciate knowing what issues you experienced so that we can take the appropriate steps to correct them.
I am disappointed that you were provided with a room that was clearly not maintained to our standard.
We are proud to be a pet friendly hotel and I thank you for your comments as each guest is asked to respect a pet agreement which they sign at check in and be considerate of other guests.
Thank you for your comments about the staff and pool. I would like to offer my personal apologies to your accommodation experience. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally and hope you will give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves during your next visit to Edmonton.

“Basic at best”

We rented a queen bed non-smoking room Thanksgiving weekend to spend the night after a motorcyle trip to Edmonton. Now, for $110 we knew this wouldn't be top of the line, but we were taken aback with the reality of the room compared to the website photos. Besides being the smallest hotel room we've ever been in, there wasn't an overhead light-just 4 lamps; no extra bedding or pillows were in the room, (with the 2 pillows provided being barely larger than throw cushions) and the bed was definately old. The whole room left me with the feeling that the hotel had converted the broom closet over to an extra room. As for being on the Non-smoking floor, that was all we smelled both days. I must say that the staff at the front desk, cleaning crew, and at the Smitty's restaurant that is attached, were extremely pleasant and friendly. For the price, it was a place to sleep and quickly leave, but would never be somewhere I'd choose for an actual holiday.
