Great value and lots of space in the rooms. Rooms are clean and tidy. Decor needs updating, but I don't need the latest look in a hotel - I want quiet and clean. Which it was, though one night it seemed a bit noisy with the elevator and people talking. Free breakfast, tho we only sampled it one day. Staff friendly and are trying hard.
Be aware though of the parkade - it is really small and if you have a SUV or pick up, be very careful and hope you don't meet anyone coming out. And if you have an SUV with a roof rack and box, you might not fit.
The other problem with our room was that the heating system was archaic, noisy and didn't really work. There is one fan for a 1 bedroom corner unit, and even on high it was blowing mostly cold air. And it was so noisy I couldn't sleep properly at night.
Elevators seemed a bit slow.
Coffee was not very good - even one of my companions who is not a picky coffee drinker couldn't drink it. But close to lots of great coffee shops, at least, during the week.
Having said all that, if I needed to be in downtown for a function with my family, I would consider staying there again just to have the separate rooms and the kitchen.

I have been staying in this suite hotel since 2008 and it is the best value I could get for a place in prime location. If you check the $ rate / sq. foot of prime location real estate, no one can beat them!!

The staffs are extremely friendly and they have a reasonably well equipped gym and swimming pool. The rooms come with kitchens and decent utensils to make your living comfortable (no restaurant on premises). Walkable to all DT malls, parks, Legislative assembly.

During 2010-2011 I made 2 trips/month at this place and they even made a special deal for me on the rates and special upgrades on certain occasions. It's better than a 'no frill' hotel but not hyped one like the big brands. Hence if you are on a family trip or travelling on business, this is the place to be.

The rooms are big, the price is right, the service was fabulous. All that and right in the heart of Edmonton.

I enjoyed our stay at Edmonton Place Suite Hotel. It is a very clean place to stay and comfortable for the money spennt. Heating was a problem in that the room was hot, but otherwise no complaints. As someone who travels a lot for business, this is an excellent buy for the money. Do note, however there is no restuarant with this hotel, but there are several restaurants in the vicinity. There is a full kitchen, even in the studio suites, which is nice for relaxing and making your own snacks and cooling drinks.
