“Very Surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2011

I read the reviews on this hotel before i stayed here, and thought that it looked like a decent place for a reasonable price. The King room that i had was very clean and obviously recently updated....very nice.
The biggest surprise was the on-site restaraunt. The food was much better than i would have thought for a fairly small hotel. It had a French theme and the meals were excellent.
It was so good that i didn`t have to really go anywhere else to eat.
I would definately stay here again

i call it "My Chateau". it is always my first choice hotel when i saty in Edmonton; i stay elsewhere only if there are no rooms available. free local phone calls; free high speed internet; excellent buffet breakfast included with the room; plenty of parking; friendly staff. Hard to beat that combo. not only would i recommend it to friends, but i do.

An amazing stay. Even though it was busy, i still enjoyed the professionalism of the staff. The hot breakfast in the morning was also amazing. A great place to stay while on the go.

“THANK YOU NIGEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2010

We had our son's 18th birthday party at the hotel and then spent the night. We had about 55 people and the party was great. Nigel, the Banquet Manager was there the entire night to help in anyway he could. His daughter, Rebecca was our Event Planner and she had everything under control for us. The room was set up so nice with all the decorations and soft lighting, the DJ had all the kids up dancing and singing from the beginning until the very last dance of the night, and the food, well it was fit for William and Kate's wedding. We had a large front room and Sue made sure that we had everything we would need, from extra pillows to extra blankets, you just had to call down to the front desk and before you knew it there was a knock on the door and Sue was there to help you. The next day we have a beautiful brunch. The selection of food and taste of food was outstanding. Thank you Nigel for everything. It was a very classy event.

“Fail in Cleanliness & Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

Entered hotel not expecting the best experience. Facade outside is old and tired, but I thought, hey its a good deal ($109/night). Waited at counter while front desk clerk stared at her computer screen. No "I'll be right with you" acknowledgement, and there was no line up, so no excuse.

Front desk clerk was short (minimal conversation), not particularly communicative (asked the same questions several ways, needed us to repeat answers), and had an unhappy demeanor.

Entered room. Dated, old furniture. Still didn't look too unclean. It doesn't take much to please me. I just need a bed.

Pulled back bedspread (regular habit due to increasing incidence of bed bug reports in other cities). Long dark (not mine) hair stuck to sheet and bedspread. Short black hair in sheets. Same black hair located in shower ...

ugh ...

It was 10:30 pm, so did I complain? No. Did I give them a chance to respond? No. What could they possible have said or done at this point to salvage my experience? Nothing.

I would not stay here again.
