We stayed at the Hotel Macdonald because Edmonton doesn't have a whole lot to offer to begin with and it's supposed to be one of the only nice hotels in the city. We stayed in the Lois Hole suite.. which was kind of creepy because there's pictures of her all over the walls. The decor is dull, dated and dry. The bathroom is a little classier and brighter. The view of the river valley was really nice. The service was good and professional... Although the valet takes 20 minutes to get your car which is annoying after awhile. The blow dryer in the bathroom must be as old as the hotel.. if you get it too close to your head the air intake sucks your hair in and spins it up inside and then you have to cut a chunk of your hair out.. which is pathetic when you're staying at somewhere that's supposed to be so "high end". Sunday brunch in the ballroom was the best part of our stay. Highly recommended to anyone. The general vibe of the place is "dry and impersonal" but you expect it before you arrive.
