“Diane C Fantastic B&B”

I was fortunate to stay at the Twin Gables B&B for my Niece's wedding with the family. The owner and hostess Deidre was charming and very gracious. She made each of us feel very welcome. It was so pleasant to stay where you felt comfortable going downstairs in your robe and slippers for an early morning coffee in the sun room. The house is a historical location and has wonderful original woodwork throughout. Where alot of B&B's have shared bathrooms or bathrooms down the hall, each suite at this location has it's own bathroom, a real plus.
If you are looking for something cozier than a hotel room, this is the place.
I would absolutely stay again if the opportunity arises.

Room Tip: The Executive suite is really astounding. It not only has a bedroom, but a extremely large sunroom w...

“Good location, too many knickknacks”

We stayed a few nights at Twin Gables during Stampede. If you want to enjoy the fun on the Stampede grounds and in the city, the B&B is very well located. Both are within 20-25 minutes walking distance. The house has definitely character. But we found it so stuffed with knickknacks (tapestry, magazines, plants, etc.), that it appeared a bit stuffy/dusty. It was by any means clean, but we couldn't shake this feeling. For other people this might be part of the charm, but for us it wasn't. Deirdre was very friendly and breakfast was ok. Since we were there during Stampede we paid a premium price. For this price we expected something a bit higher end.

“Wonderful stay!”

We stayed here recently for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon, and we loved it. The host Deidre is very friendly, and has paid attention to the detail you look for in excellent B&Bs. The room was very spacious and plush, with a very comfy king size bed, large TV with video and DVD players, fridge, leather recliners and a good bathroom with nice amenities. The jacuzzi spa is great! the location is very good - close to restaurants, bars, Safeway and buses. About 20-25 minute walk to the centre of downtown and the Stampede grounds. Would definitely stay here again, and recommend it highly to couples.

Room Tip: The Mount royal suite is spacious and has a jacuzzi spa.

“A wonderful stay...”

Everything we hoped for and more. We are so glad we diverted from the standard hotel routine and stayed with Deirdre and Henry at Twin Gables. Not only were they excellent hosts, we felt like we were at home in all regards. From the moment we arrived they were helpful in every way beginning with an excellent restaurant tip within walking distance. Their home is a treasure trove of interesting antiques and history. The yard/garden was a Spring like treat of wonderful landscaping/flowers/statuary. We had lots of home related questions and Deirdre took the time to explain the detailed history regarding the home. Breakfast was to die for (Belgium Waffles/Bacon/Fruit/etc., in our case).

My wife is a frog fanatic and the home/yard made her day. Even more so, Deirdre had a wonderful related parting gift for her. Our only regret is that we were unable to spend more time at Twin Gables. Next time....

“Location...is everything!”

On a recent trip to attend a conference in Calgary, I decided that I wanted to pair "business with pleasure" by choosing a B&B close to where my 2 day function was being held. Imagine my surprise when I found that not only would staying at Twin Gables allow me to park the car and walk to my event, but also to just "forget about the car" and fully savour the delights of "living" in the neighborhood - a historic one at that!

This B&B is located just one block from the scenic Elbow River, trendy 4th Street boutiques & restaurants as well as within walking distance to the 17th Avenue area and the downtown core. A major bus route is also easily accessible. Being very much an "Urban Rat", the fact that I had accidently arrived on May 29th during Calgary's annual "Lilac Festival"..a major street festival..added to the experience.

If you love travelling back in time while enjoying all the perks visiting a city provides, then you should consider opting for a stay at Twin Gables. I'm sure when I return there will be other antiques and "nooks & cranies" in this 100 hundred year old property that I failed to find the first time around.
