The place was clean, neat and, welcoming. The owner was helpful and concerned about my needs. The room was very clean, the breakfast was excellent !
The location is great and the price was reasonable . I will definitely come back if I am in Calgary.

I stayed two nights and was more than pleased with Michael's hospitality and consideration for his guests. After booking, I read an earlier review on this site that got me worried as a solo traveller that there weren't proper locks on the room doors. I called and was assured that review was not accurate. As soon as I arrived, I was given my room and house key. There was a deadbolt on my room door which locked from the inside and I felt very safe. Whatever prior guest didn't think to take their key out of the deadbolt, then wrote such a negative review perhaps needs to get out more... The one page of written B&B do's and dont's in my room was completely reasonable and shows just how much care is put into this place.

I have only good things to say about my stay. Michael was attentive to every detail and his home is beautiful. My room was very comfortable and I had the whole place, including the bathroom to myself as I was the only one staying. My bed was turned down in the evening and lights left on for me to come home to after dinner; a delicious chocolate on the pillow topped it all off:) Breakfast was absolutely delicious and relaxing with lovely music playing all the while.

I highly recommend this as a very comfortable, friendly place to stay close to so many wonderful restaurants and services. Anyone who reads that prior negative review I advise against taking it to heart, as it hasn't an ounce of accuracy to it.

A happy stay at 18th Ave Uptown Mount Royal Bed and Breakfast last week. Quite restful. A cozy hideaway close to the pulse of the city; it was quiet for any sort of place, but especially so for a place a moment's walk from an enormous variety of shopping and dining. I was warmly welcomed, generously oriented to a delightful series of spaces ranging from private deck to spacious living room; each quaint, perfectly cared for, and full of thoughtful, elegant traditional touches in this historic house. A delicious breakfast was served with identical grace and elegance. Wish I'd come up with this (saw it in the guest book): "food too beautiful to eat and too good not to!" Everything about this place and its owner speaks to good taste, grace, and a great sense of gentle humour; this place is focussed only on maximizing the enjoyment and comfort of the guests. I loved it. 5 stars.

Forced out of our home by renovations we’ve just returned from our stay at this charming B&B. Hours before arriving we checked and noticed UPTIGHT’S comments resulting in us being more observant than we might otherwise have been. It was a put off and now after being there myself I feel compelled to reply.

The proprietor was friendly, relaxed and more helpful than we deserved.

The “rules” referred to mentioned breakfast time, an offer to store oversized baggage or anything else, the offering of coffee or tea you can prepare youreself, a nod to health and fire regulations, a few modest housekeeping points, a reference to available restaurant menus for nearby restaurants and a prompt to ask for anything otherwise needed. This was one modest page. I never did find a second.

The room doors lock manually from the inside and our room key was in the keyhole on the outside of the door. A brief mention was made as to how to operate the glass door leading off our room to a spectacular private deck. It has a window part to it that you don’t realize and wouldn’t know opened if you weren’t shown it.

I enjoy a cigarette after breakfast but could only do so outside and on the other side of the house, well away from the B&B bedrooms.

Reading the guest book in our room messages of gratitude, appreciation and delight numbered the hundreds, most acknowledging the ambiance and fine breakfasts. We couldn’t have agreed more. This isn’t some cold, anonymous hotel but a beautiful private home- comfortable, relaxed and well worth respecting. We received far more value for our dollar than we ever contemplated or anticipated. Talk about value!

We were a bit jealous comparing this place to our own home and picked up several decorating ideas. You can’t please everyone but we were very much impressed and appreciated everything about our stay, which greatly took the edge off our renovation angst.
