I had stayed at the Vetro in Calgary via O Hotel Suites before and both the condo appartment and service were very good. This time, staying for a month, the condo was still OK (different unit, same furnishings) but the service rendered was bad, bordering on bizarre.
A few minor issues arose but getting them fixed proved almost impossible. Calls and e-mails weren't returned and when an e-mail was eventually replied to, sometimes it appeared to be from a private, not an O Hotel e-mail address. Contacts at O Hotels seemed to go away for various periods and in their absence, none of the others knew anything about the on-going issues.
Repeated promises that one issue would be fixed went unfulfilled; in the end it took about 3 weeks.
The Vetro itself is a modern condo tower, set on the south-side of the city near the Stampede grounds. One and 2 bedroom appartments are moderately furnished and equipped. WiFi works OK. The blinds may as well not exist - they don't cut out much light so in the morning don't count on sleeping in. The air con cannot be turned off - in one appartment I was kept awake as the thermostat clicked on noisily, bringing the air con fan to life with a roar, no matter what temperature setting I used.
The local neighbourhood is distinctly seedy, with a 'social facility' over the road constantly visited by police and ambulances; sidewalks accommodate the less forunate and resultant messes (but more a case of discomfort, rather than perceived threat). But if you can put up with that, and if nothing needs management attention, the Vetro is close to the C Train and the city and well priced for longer stays.
