The hotel has fantastic views of Canada Olympic Park. Looks quite nice at night. The 24 hour Dennys is a great feature if you want to snack late in the evenings. We stayed as a large group so I ended up getting a one bedroom suite - it was quite spacious and comfortable.

It is not a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination - but it provides all the minimum comforts required for a quick business trip. The pool is really small and not worth using too much. The Bar is quite good with reasonable prices.

The only negative comment I have is that the front desk staff seemed tired and exhausted early evening when most of the checkins occur. Not sure if their shifts go on for too long or something. The room staff (cleaning, room service etc.) was quite good.

I stay at this Sandman usually on business and I recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet location with breathtaking views of Canada Olympic Park (COP). The rooms are very clean, there is a pool, a nice lounge where you can get a drink or evening meal and a Dennys restaurant for an awesome breakfast. There are plenty of places to get fast food, a little liquor store right across the street and they have complimentary coffee in the lobby. Staff have always been very accommodating. My favorite place to stay in Calgary.

We have stayed in many "pet friendly" hotels over the years and are used to being booked into sub standard rooms that are designated for those of us with pets.

This was NOT the case with Calgary West Sandman. We were booked into a first floor suite - all pet friendly rooms are on the first floor- that was clean, roomy and very comfortable. We stayed in rm 112 which was perfect because it was close to the main entrance and only had one neighboring suite.

The housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient and very kind to our animals.

We ate at the 24 hour Denny's Restaurant that was in the same building. The food was great and the place was clean and well staffed.

We will certainly stay at this hotel again because of its friendliness to pets, location across from Calgary Olympic Park, proximity to Banff and comfortable rooms.

The Sandman Hotel and Suites Calgary West is a new property aimed at the traveller with affordability in mind. It offered an excellent price per night, clean, new rooms which were appointed nicely. Not a high-end hotel by any means, but if you are looking for a clean, safe, mid-range hotel that offers both a brand new Dennys and a Bar One restaurant on-site then it can make for a nice stop along the way. It is located right near the highway so this is a good hotel to stay at if you are on your way to Banff or en route in Calgary. The service was the only point lacking. The staff were not that concerned when my room key failed twice, but the service in the restaurants made up for it as I had great service in both restaurants. I tried both and had a great steak salad at Bar One and a nice breakfast at Dennys. I would stay again as it was good value for the rate.
