Although I was there on business and alone, I had uninvited guests in my room and bed. The room was infested with bed bugs and I know this by the amount of bites I received. I was a guest at the Regency Suites in Calgary for 2 nights, as I was on business I spent only evenings in my suite. I received approximately 50 - 60 bites. When I advised staff the morning I was departing (the bites or welts only began appearing on the day I left) the gentleman told me he could only refund my parking. Once I arrived home, I researched and then went to a pharmacist to confirm the bites were in fact from bed bugs. I spoke to another hotel staff that night to let them know that the room I was in had bed bugs. It was not until I spoke to the hotel general manager (nice gal) that the hotel agreed to refund my stay and did confirm that there were bugs in the room. I realize that bed bugs are not the fault of a hotel, if it would not have been for the manager, I would have given a rating of terrible. I would, however, rate the staff as terrible in customer service (probably nice people), not one of the staff I spoke to had the authority to make this right and I can tell you, if you have ever slept with bed bugs, it can be emotionally traumatizing when you think of these critters crawling all over you while you sleep. Beware and make sure you check you bed linens for little blood spots on the bed or mattress and keep yourself free of bed bugs. They spread quickly so make sure you let them hitch a ride in your suitcase! Be vigilant, they are hard to get rid of if you get them!

location was excellent downtown Calgary. Quite and clean. Well equipped living area and kitchenet;. small sleeping area good bathroom. Ground floor contains front desk and nothing else. no breakfast but Tim Hotonsis not far.

We arrived at the airport and then drove into the city to check out a hotel next door listed in the Lonely Planet guide but they claimed to have limited availability and wanted to charge a horrendous rate.
Staff at the Regency were really friendly and even let me use the Internet in the lobby to get a cheaper rate in Expedia.com
The hotel and rooms are dated but clean and we were even upgraded to a larger room with lounge and kitchenette. Great location and in site parking for $9 turned out to be good value! Thanks!

Corporate booked our hotel and I was concerned after reading the TA reviews. (Actually my thought was "this ought to be interesting.") I was quite surprised...and pleasantly. This property is a bit dated...worn even, but room size, amenities and STAFF make this place a great location to work from. In just a few days, Jenny, Roy and Eri (FD staff) became our friends and guided us to restaurants, clubs, shopping and transportation to make our business stay quite enjoyable. Wireless service worked for my PC'd coworkers, but if you have a Mac, ask the desk for a cable...there's some conflict, but this worked better for me anyway.
Full kitchen in the room was quickly stocked from convenient store (Mack's?) next door and settled in to watch television and work. Shower had good pressure/temp. Bath accessories were of surprisingly good quality. Great closet space (sparse on hangars though...but a quick call downstairs will resolve that for you).
Living room allowed for meetings with comfort and space and location meant we could walk to all of our meetings.
So, yes, it's a bit dated and worn...but is CLEAN - which is really the quality needed. The end result was a feeling that this is a home away from home. We have some long-term work in Calgary and will look at taking advantage of the long-term stay rates.
Great for families if select the two bedroom options. There's also a sleep sofa in the living room if you need.
