I flew into Calgary for a weekend to take in the city and attend the Calgary tattoo convention.
- The location was great, just on the edge of downtown. A block away from the LRT.
- Very friendly atmosphere, lots of people around
- No roudy guests, I was never disturbed by thumping, crashing or banging. Quiet at night.
- Excellent TV & games room. It was a great way to relax at the end of the day
- despite what other people said, I thought the showers were great. Spacious, clean, great water pressure. Room for all of my stuff. Free towels from front reception.
-I didn't take advantage of it, but they have GREAT kitchen facilities and large fridges to store food.
- they have storage facilites for your baggage, which was nice since I had to check out at 11am and didn't fly home until 9pm
- staff were very nice
Downsides:
- I could feel the springs in the bed, so it didn't make for the best sleep
- personally wasn't a fan of the free breakfast. Would have enjoyed a few more fruit options and some cereal.
NOTE: if your flying into the city and don't want to pay $8.00 to take the #300 bus into the city take the #100 bus to the McKnight-Westwinds CTrain Station. It costs $2.75, just make sure to get a transfer when you get on the #100. From McKnight-Westwinds, take the CTrain to City Hall station. Walk East 2 blocks and your at the hostel.
