Execsuite maintains several properties in Calgary. My stay was at the Tower, a 14 story building with eight rooms per floor, 702-3rd Ave SW. While you can rent short-term, just like a regular hotel, this complex caters to the longer-term client. I rented an apartment for about two months through the Calgary summer.
Pro's: a non-smoking building, clean, secure, and well kept. Decent flat screen tv's, usually two per room, with cable, wireless internet, wide variety of room configurations, newly remodelled rooms (work in progress).
Con's: slippery modern leather or leather like chair and couch. Couch is not comfortable for laying down and watching tv. Complex allows smoking on the balconies. Unfortunately people's smoke from neighbouring balconies gets sucked into your room if you have the window open, which in the Calgary summer you almost always do. Most irritating of all was the 2AM cigar smoker. Light pollution from the sign atop the Shaw building next door allowed me to read in bed at night. Very tight parking spots.
But... I'd stay there again. The quality of the accomodations, the nearness to downtown providing the ability to easily walk to offices make it an ideal place to stay. A full, yet small kitchen with an oven, stove, fridge, and dishwasher Depending on the season. I had a King room and my guys had juniors. The King room is about twice the size of the junior, but to be honest, I really didn't use all the space. It would have been good if the kitchen had more space as if you want to open the dishwasher, you almost have to leave the room.
The mattress is hotel durable, and if I'm there for another extended period (or this one continues) I will go out and buy a topper, as well as some decent pillows.
The rooms are quiet. While the hallway can pick up sounds from neighbouring tv's, the rooms themselves are quite quiet. It is a downtown hotel so if you open the window (an AC unit is in the livingroom) you will hear traffic and ventilation systems of surrounding buildings.
The service is great. Little wants and needs are taken care of right away.
I'd look at this place if I was staying more than four days. It is much less expensive than the major downtown hotels and gives you the chance to cook for yourself if you desire.
