We booked for a weekend at this hotel and got a great deal with expedia. But you get what you pay for. The decor and upkeep are below average, the staff, service and location bring it to an average rating in my opinion, would have been higher with some TLC to the suites. The one bedroom suite we booked was clean, the kitchen had all the basics and the internet was fast although it would disconnect on occasion. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My son told me he had heard that the place was being gutted and turned into condos which makes sense. The building is solid and the location is just great with easy walking diatance to the c-train and downtown area. That possibly explains the lack of upkeep of the suites. The towel rack fell off the wall (narrowly missing my foot!) the furniture is really old and banged up, the carpeting is clean but worn. We found the bed one of the most comfortable we have slept in for a hotel - but the pillows were so puffy you wanted to just sleep on a small corner of one! The other problem was the room was so hot we kept the window open. Not sure why - there was no heat coming off the radiators, perhaps because Clagary is having one of the armest winters in years? It was strange, February and we were all out with no coats, people on motorcycles, skateboards and bicycles, wearing shorts. Strange stuff.
