“Exceeded my expectations. Close to airport, a bit of a drive into town.”

Perfect hotel if you're in town for a few days. Super close to the airport, with shuttle available. Rooms are amazing. Great business centre where you can print off documents for free. Free wifi in rooms. Rooms are large, clean. Free breakfast every morning, which includes hot items like an omelet station, sausage, eggs, oatmeal. Sundry available to purchase frozen foods and microwave is available in the room. Highly exceeded my expectations. It is close to the airport so not near centre of the city ~ 15-20 min ride into town. So best location if you have already rented a car or need to be close to the airport.

“Far beyond expectations!”

My business partner and I had an overnight in Calgary and we wanted a hotel close to the airport. I found the BW Freeport online and thought it looked reasonable. Upon arrival "reasonable" took a turn for the better.

We were greeted at the front door by a nice man inquiring if this was our first visit, when we indicated yes, he welcomed us, gave us a brief history of the newly constructed hotel and directed us to the front desk. Check in was seem less and concise and we were directed to our room. Spacious, beautiful decor and all in room amenities one could want. Our room had 2 queen beds with 5 pillows, puffy duvets and crisp white sheets. Beds were very comfortable. There was a business desk, sitting area, small kitchenette, in room safe, fridge microwave and HD flat screen. What more could we want. Well, how about a work out in a well appointed gym and then a dip in the pool and hot tub! In the morning, we had an amazing buffet breakfast with bacon, eggs, waffles oatmeal and yogurt that is included in the price of the room.

I won't stay anywhere else when I'm in Calgary.

“Nice place to spend the night pre-trip”

This is a really nice new hotel about 2 minutes from the Calgary airport. It's a wonderful location when your flight gets in at 2 a.m. and you don't want to wait around for 1/2 hour for a shuttle. The rooms are very well laid out, with microwave and fridge. The fresh omelets at the breakfast bar make this place stand out from the usual 'included' breakfast, and there are snacks and instant meals available for purchase should you come in when the restaurant isn't open.
A couple of things to note - the elevators make the most obnoxious chirping noise when you push the button. I understand that it could be useful for blind people, but it's so loud it could work for deaf people too.
I was a bit surprised at the $40 per week parking charge because somehow I thought it was included in the room rate. I guess I better pay more attention next time!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room AWAY from the elevator. We could hear the chirping noise from our room al...

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the Best Western Premier Freeport Inn and Suites. Our location is wonderful and we are fortunate to have quick access to the airport terminals so that our guests do not have to wait too long for a pick up after their flights into Calgary. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our extensive breakfast selection and the omelette station left a lasting impression. I am sorry that we didn't not communicate the fee for park and fly prior to your visit and I will review our marketing information to ensure we are transparent on this topic. Thank you for taking the time to post your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Calgary.

“Great hotel by the Calgary airport”

We stayed here for two nights because we had appointments in Calgary. We stayed with our two young children and had a king suite. The room and hotel were both very clean. The king bed was fabulous, we had a great sleep. The sofa bed mattress, however, was terrible. Definitely needs a pad on top, as all you can feel are the springs in the mattress. The room was very quiet and we felt like we were the only people in the hotel, even though I know it was very full. We had a great view of the planes at the airport, which my kids loved. There was no noise from the planes after about 11pm, and even before that it was minimal. Loved the oversized shower. Breakfast was fantastic, waffles, bacon, sausages and omelettes made to order. We had a few minor issues: Did not like the channel selection on the tv and found it hard to navigate without a channel guide. My son had the sliding door (at the lobby) close on his hand, and there were no apologies made whatsoever. He was stuck in the door and could not get free. The pool was great, as was the water slide, although VERY cold! I would stay here again, though.

Thank you very much for your recent review describing the Best Western Freeport Inn and Suites as a "Great hotel by the Calgary Airport.' I am so pleased that your family enjoyed the oversized shower, fantastic breakfast and quiet room. I first want to appologize for the lack of response to your son's hand being trapped in the sliding doors and will be looking into this matter immediately so that no other visitors, big or small, are at risk of injury. I have made note of your comments about the sofa bed matress and will strive to find a solution to the bed quality. We recently converted to high definition TV channels and now have a listing in all our rooms to avoid future frustrations in locating your favorite shows. I hope that you will let me know when your next visit will be so that I can welcome you back to the hotel personally.

“...u can tell this hotel is new”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I stayed in December at this hotel
its is very nice and that is forsure
I appreciated the room upgrade and the room itself was very nice (although not a view)
however the shower was not layed out well at all as it was very difficult to use
our iron did not work (this hotel is new so not sure how that works)
I was quite disapointed to have housekeepers just waiting for us outside the door as well
The breakfast buffet was ok, the restaurant which was open for a very small amount of time
had no selection. Because this hotel is near NOTHING and we did not have a car we had to spend $30 in taxis just to eat dinner
When we asked for extra pillows they never arrives not a big deal
The waterslide was fabulous, although i think it would be nice if guests did not have to ask to be let in to use it.
Overall it was a not bad experience, i understand the hotel is new but definetly has some work
to do

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your recent stay at the Best Western Freeport Inn and Suites.
I am sorry to hear that your experience did not exceed your expectations and want to assure you that we strive to have working equipment in the rooms at all times. Our staff takes a great deal of pride in trying to go above and beyond so I will be investigating why your pillows were never delivered. On a positive note we are currently addressing your comment about our lounge menu selection and working to expand the options available to travellers. This too will help to address your comments about the cost of a taxi to alternate dining venues.
On your next visit to Calgary I hope that you will stay with us again and provide me with feedback on our new lounge menu.
