“Kindness and Consideration”

I had to find a hotel to stay at for my family when an unexpected family tragedy occurred. I contacted the hotel and was offered a great room for a great price. The hotel from the outside is nothing special, but the lobby is fantastic, the room was spectacular, and the service provided by the front desk was top notch. The food was great for a quick bite to eat and there were no parking issues. Overall, I was highly impressed by the kindness and consideration of the front desk staff for my family and the quality of the room. You know you're in a great hotel, when their consecutive housekeeping awards are displayed at the front desk with pride. Thank you Glenmore Inn, my family and I will be back.

We stayed in a Garden Room. I think the hotel has an old section and a new section and we were definitely in the old section. The room was marginal. It seemed always faintly damp, the beds had two little pillows on them with a sheet and a waffer thin blanket. I asked for additional blankets and they brought them up right away. The service was good. Front desk, waitress and housekeeping were friendly etc. They have a pool and the kids really enjoyed it. I don't know if they wax the waterslide or what but it is crazy fast - lots of fun! The kids want to go back just for the super fast waterslide.

“We got to our room and turned around and left.”

My husband booked a pricey ($189, before tax) get away for one night in the jacuzzi suite. As we were driving up the hotel looked not bad. When we pulled in the parking lot I couldn't help but notice the run down strip mall that shared the parking lot.

When we were checking in the clerk made a comment about the hotel being 100% non smoking and that there is a $10-20 fine for smoking in the room. I had made a comment to her about how cheap that was. (I had recently stayed in a hotel where it was a $200 fine.)

As we walked to our first floor room the first thing we noticed was the smell of cigarette smoke, as we got closer to our room it still smelled but less of fresh cigarette smoke and just smelled. We also noticed how awful the hall carpet looked.

Once inside our room the odour continued; it basically smelled dirty but that someone tried to mask the smell. My husband made a comment right away about the smell and his nose doesn't work the best. We looked around the room that looked dated, worn and slightly tacky. One of the arm chairs had a rip. I had taken off my shoes and the carpet felt dirty and awful.

In the bathroom there are tacky typed notes on how to operate the shower heads; that info should be in the guest room folder not taped up in the room. I noticed there was no shampoo or conditioner and they only had one robe as well.

I asked my husband if there was a continental breakfast included in the price and there wasn't .

After being in the room for less than 5 minutes we realized we couldn't stay there as the odour was just too awful even with all the other down falls of the place.

We went back to the front desk and again smelled a very strong odour of fresh cigarettes as we walked past the last rooms. At the desk we told the clerk we couldn't stay there and she was fine; not sure if it happens a lot but she wasn't surprised and didn't ask questons. I made a comment to her that some of their rooms were smoking rooms and she again said they are 100% non smoking. When I told her about the smell in the hall she again wasn't surprised and neither was the other clerk who was standing there. Definitely not the reaction you would expect when being told about a strong odour of cigarettes in a 100 % non smoking hotel. It has only been non-smoking since 2008 but this wasn't the smell of stale smoke.

We decided to head to the Acclaim hotel where we stayed before. Just before we got there we saw the new best western and decided to check them out. We got a beautiful, brand new jacuzzi suite for less than $170 total! Hot continental breakfast included.

Maybe the other rooms of the hotel are better but I won't be checking in here again.

“Ok hotel.”

Hotel is pretty old. Rooms were not very clean and with way not matching furniture. No view at all and we were staing in Tower. Price is good. If you need just a sleepover and nothing fancy, that's a perfect joice.

“Great Hotel”

It was my 2ND time staying at this hotel this year.
We knew this hotel through price-line. It was a good price for a 3 stars hotel. Our room was on the tower-side. The room was a bit dim and need a makeover, but the washroom was clean. The beds were comfy and clean.
This time, we got our room on the wing-side of the hotel. It was better than the first time which the room has better renovations and brighter. The washroom was a bit small, but it was not an issue.
The front desk staffs were friendly, but not that helpful. The manager does not know any good place to eat in Calgary.
The pool has a water-slide and a hot tube.
For the price and comfy, we would stay at this hotel again.
