“Comfy and Clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel is freshly renovated and quite attractive. Our room was smallish but stylish and the beds were very comfortable. It did seem to take a long time for the hot water to heat up in the shower. We opted for this hotel because of the waterslides. This area has not been renovated yet and is in need of a little upgrading and updating. That being said, the many kids at the pool were having a blast! This hotel is close to all the usual chain restaurants from McDonalds and Wendys to Earls and Chilis. It was a good base for a fun family weekend in Calgary.

Room Tip: I was glad we didn't opt to stay on the pool floor. Busy and noisy pool. Open until 10pm.

“Great staff, comfortable rooms!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We had a room on the 7th floor for 4 nights last week; couldn't have been happier with Every aspect of this hotel. Our room was recently redone with calming colors, upgraded surfaces, and great amenities, as I understand all of the regular rooms have been done. The room was very clean, and we liked the small window that we could open, to get some fresh air when the sun was shining. Bed was great;comfortable, with very soft sheets and sufficient bedding for the cold weather.
Staff is excellent; I never passed an employee without getting a sincere and friendly greeting; the ladies that work on the Concierge level in the mornings are wonderful; helpful, friendly, and they make sure everyone has what they need, to enjoy their morning.
Sheraton also supplies very nice computers in a small, somewhat private area, and a printer, for free use by their guests. No one else needed a computer, and there were often 3 empty beside me, so I was able to spend an hour or so each day, catch up on email, news, etc., at no extra cost, in a comfortable setting. It's also very handy for printing boarding passes.
The location of this hotel is also very good; though close to the airport, we were not on the direct flight path,so did not hear planes at all hours. Our floor was very quiet, even though there was a convention at the hotel, we were not awakened by other guests or staff, at any time. I was able to walk to fast food restaurants (McDonald's and Wendy's within 3 minutes) and also walked a bit further, to Sunridge Mall, which is nice. About 1 mile each way, so good exercise, and on sidewalks all the way, though it is by a major 3 lane street, I felt safe. Sunridge has a Cora; a good little cafe for breakfast or lunch, food court and nice stores. There is also a large movie theater across from that mall. Taxis there would be reasonable, as well.
We look forward to our next stay at Sheraton Cavalier, and highly recommend it to others!

Room Tip: call ahead to ask if they can give you a room on the upper floors, possibly floor 6 or 7. Nice gym, b...

“Typical Sheraton”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I stay here quite often for work as it is close to our Calgary office. Depending on why you are in town, might not be the best location as it is not close to downtown. Part way between the airport and downtown, the location is in a business area (lots of offices) though has many restaurants around. There is a free shuttle to the airport ... call from outside at the airport shuttle area.
The hotel itself is typical Sheraton .. nothing fancy but you know what you are getting. Fast and friendly service at check in. The restaurant has a lounge area, a pub (traders) and a good steak restaurant (carvers).
The rooms are old style Sheraton .. I would say average. Good bed, Starbucks in room coffee ... biggest challenge was the poor water pressure in the AM for a shower.
There is a lounge available for Platinum members, or anyone willing to pay for the Club Lounge.
I would say the hotel is good, friendly service but if I was not a SPG member and the hotel was not so close to the hotel may look for other options.

“Fun hotel stay for kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Last weekend I was asked to keep my nephew for the weekend so his father could have some much needed alone time. Puzzled with how I was going to entertain an 8 year old boy, I did some online research and discovered the Sheraton Cavalier in Calgary. I booked online and got a fabulous rate and off we went.

The hotel has ample room for parking, several options for dining, although with kids I highly recommend the pancake bar in the mornings for breakfast. Aside from in hotel dining, the area around the hotel offers many choices as well.

I requested a room overlooking the pool area, since the pool was the basis for our visit. However I regretted that later when trying to rest because the pool stays very loud until 10:00pm, so if you want quiet in your room, request to be away from the pool.

Rooms and clean and spacious, bedding is crisp and the beds are ridiculously comfortable.

Staff is very helpful and welcoming.

We spent over 4 hours in their pool area which includes three hot tubs, two pool areas and two water slides, plus a sauna.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for something to keep the kids entertained. It's helped me become Aunt of the year!

“Leave plenty of time to get back to the airport!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Good hotel just what you would expect from a Sheraton. Great beds and pillows and nice bed linens.
Carvers Steakhouse restaurant inside the hotel had very, very, slow service but the food was good.
Getting to the hotel was a breeze but leaving was a different story. It sounds like they are building another runway for the airport and traffic is being diverted miles out of the way. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the airport! This is obviously no fault of the hotel.

Thank you very much for your feedback. You are correct that the most direct route from the airport has been closed by the City of Calgary to accommodate new airport runways. We have successfully rallyed for an aoirport tunnel which has been approved and will be accessible by late 2013. Until that time it is a good idea to allow for an extra 15 minutes to and from the airport given the traffice situation at peak times of the day. We certainly apologize for this inconvenience and look forward to the construction completion so that all concerned can enjoy a more seamless commute.
Warm regards,
Joy Caron, Director of Sales and Markeitng
