Knowing that we would be travelling for over 24 hours we wanted to stay somewhere close to Calgary airport.

The Best Western Airport Inn was a great pick, the room was clean, had a comfortable King Size Bed, free internet, and continental breakfast (which was the best continental breakfast on our whole trip).

The accommodation has a Thai Restaurant which was delicious and large servings.

We only stayed one night as this was the beginning of our trip. But had we realised what was around Calgary would have stayed a little longer.

The staff were friendly, we had no problems checking in or out and overall our stay was comfortable and the facility was clean and tidy.

Staying at this hotel while in Calgary was one of the best decisions we made. It is clean, quiet and conveniently located to all points, airport, highway #1, highway #2, downtown and shopping. The staff is the most welcoming and friendly I've ever met in a hotel. Coffee was great which starts the day off on a perfect note. This property may be older and working on upgrading but it has many newer hotels beat. Definitely on the top of our list.

After reading previous reviews on this hotel, I approached our stay with great trepidation. Make no mistake...this is an older facility and the iffy WiFi and TV reception, and toilets that needed "nursing" to flush show its age, but when we stayed there (we had two rooms), it was spotless. This included the rooms and the pool area. The room can accomodate 2 double beds, a generous desk and an armchair with a hassock that slides under it to keep clutter to a minimum. The bathrooms show signs of remodeling, with a new & generous sink counter and a plastic insert bath/shower with one of those curved curtain rods that make a narrow space seem larger. We did not try the continental breakfast but went across the street to Denny's as we had a very long flight with no prospect for other than fast food ahead. There was a Thai restaurant in the hotel that my 4 year old granddaughter decided was fine for dinner and so did we as it had a kiddie menu and some other American offerings. The Pad Thai was very mild but flavorfull and our server very helpful, given 3 children under 5 in our party. The little ones' portacribs were delivered instantly. So, all in all, I was relieved and pleasantly surprised.

The hotel was adequate for our needs. It was on the expensive side because it was the Stampede, but cheaper than other hotels around Calgary.

We arrived at 12 noon and although we weren't supposed to check in until 4pm the receptionist kindly allowed us to check in early. She also called for a taxi to take us to the Stampede ground. That was about $20. Although there was supposed to be a shuttle bus to the airport (provided by the hotel) the receptionist called a taxi (at their expense) when we were ready to leave.

The room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed for an overnight stay, and more! The towels were large and soft, toiletries were provided, as well as an iron and ironing board, a hairdrier and coffee and tea.

Breakfast was more than adequate, and spoiled only by other guests who seemed to think that by saying 'excuse me' they could then push their way to whatever they wanted. The breakfast room was rather small but everyone seemed able to find a seat. There was plenty to choose from: muffins, waffles, bagels, toast and cereal, as well as fruit juice, tea and coffee.

The pool was a decent size for a hotel pool and there was also a hot tub. Both were being used by other guests, but we didn't have time to try them out.

Check out at 12 noon was useful too, as we were flying out in the late afternnon. Although there isn't a great deal to do in the area, we had a wander around the neighborhood and it was interesting to see the local park area and houses. There is a bridge over the main road where we had a wonderful view of the mountains with newly-fallen snow (in July!)

If I visit Calgary again, I would try to stay there.

We arrived in Calgary and could not get on a flight. I was happy that they matched a competing hotels price and paid for a transfers from the airport and back in the morning. (The fair is usually $20 each way).

This IS an airport hotel so it is in an industrial area, but we could get some lunch and dinner too. A few shops and hotels around. There is a Thai restaurant on site which is weird as it looks into to pool area, but they do room service so it is okay. Don't remeber hearing planes.

It is next to the fire station but there was no sirens at ungodly hours. Free newspaper and breakfast included.

Given the free transfers, and the breakfast I was very happy with this hotel. It was MADE TOTALLY NON-SMOKING recently, which is great.

It would have been nice if there was a fridge in the room, but it was so cold outside I just shoved my milk and icecream between the window and fly screen.

  • Liked — Transfers from/to airport
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — This is now totally non-smoking. GREAT!!!
