When we had a look at the website we weren't to sure about Hughes House. The website is a bit outdated so we didn't expect too much...When we arrived we were pleasently suprised! Hughes house is a lovely victorian home in a nice neigbourhood. Kelly is great and offered us a nice glass of wine when we arrived, we stayed in many B&B's in Canada but Kelly was the warmest and friendliest host of them all. He enjoyes life and is just fun. The rooms were nice and clean and have new bathrooms. It is an easy 15 minute walk to the city centre and there are some nice restaurants nearby. Don't have doubts....stay with Kelly!

Walkable distance into town, the facilities were nice and clean, and the breakfast was good. The rooms weren't huge but they were en suite with modern bathrooms. Good kitchen facilities. Kelly is a friendly host and has two dogs in the house with him.

Kelly was very nice. He offered to pick us up when we reached downtown and drove us to the mall on our last day. He gave us advise on nearby restaurant we could eat. He invited us for a lunch barbecue. It's a short bus ride to downtown and even walking distance if you don't mind walking. I felt safe walking around that neigborhood. He gave us a good deal on our room. The bed was sooo comfortable.

There are dogs in the house so if you don't mind dogs, you should be ok. There weren't any cable channels on tv. But if you're in Calgary to visit, then watching tv would not be a priority.

We'll definitely stay there again if we go to Calgary.

What a wonderful stay we had here. Loved the experience of staying in a neighbourhood community in Calgary rather than a corporate hotel in a city centre.. The house itself felt more like a home and Kelly was a perfect host who went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable, as did the two west-highland terriers!. Our room, although small, had a great deck area attached where we could sit and read in the evening. Access to this was through our bathroom. Kelly had done a good job of redesigning the house to maximize the space available whilst still retaining it's charm. Victorian cast-iron tubs were placed in the bathrooms which were a great feature. What we particularly liked was the hospitality room which was perfect for making late night or early morning hot drinks; it was fully equipt with a fridge, cooking and washing facilities. The accomodation was spotlessly clean and breakfast was a treat - lovely fruit salad and hot buns with home made jam.
I would definately recommend staying here. We loved it!
