“Good value in Banff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

Everything was very clean and nice. The Big Horn B and B is a good value in expensive Banff. The lock on our door wouldn't work, and even the owner had a little trouble with it, but from the way everything was maintained, I bet they have gotten a new lock already. I had read about the noisy trains, but I never heard one during the night; we slept with a window open. There was a bit of a funky smell when we first walked in, but once we opened the windows, all was well. Anne seemed very nice and helpful. While you're in Banff, be sure to visit the fabulous pool at the Upper Hot Springs.

“Ideal in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2008

We stayed at The Big Horn B&B, in the Honeymoon Suite, for 8 days in August and found it 'ideal in every way'! We were in Banff for a family wedding and so there was a lot of 'socialising' going on with relatives and friends. The fact that we had our own private entrance & key meant we could come and go as we pleased. Banff Avenue (the 'heart' of Banff) is only a 5 minute walk away .

The accommodation offers the best of both worlds - the independence of your own little apartment but with the convenience of hotel-like service such as daily cleaning & clean towels provided every 2 days. The breakfasts provided each day were excellent and really set us up for the day -cereals;bagels/croissants;pastries;yoghurts;fresh orange juice;tea/coffee etc.

We found Anne extremely welcoming and friendly. We would recommend this B&B to anyone and would certainly stay there again if we return to Banff.

  • Liked — Location, facilities and the independence it gives you
  • Disliked — Nothing worth mentioning

“charming”

Big Horn b and b is perfectly located for the main street and tourist information. It was spacious, clean and comfortable and quiet. (except for the occasional train sounding its horn). We also had good views from the window.

We had a large double bed, a sofa, a larger than average bathroom and a substantial kitchen area.

Ann was very welcoming and provided us with a delicious breakfast each morning of croissants, pastries, cereal and juice. There were also facilities for preparing our own light meals if we had so wished.

I appreciate the fact that we were left to our own devices, knowing that Ann was available upstairs if we needed anything.

We did not feel that parking was a problem. It was good to have somewhere safe to leave the car each night.

The only negative could be that the room is down a flight of stairs, so anyone staying here would have to be reasonably mobile in order to get the suitcases down there (and back up again).

I would be more than happy to stay ther again if I return to Banff.

  • Liked — size and cleanliness
  • Disliked — stairs with low headroom

“Big Horn Bed & Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2008

Nice and clean B&B at a very good location, just a block or two away from Downtown.
We had in fact a small appartment to ourselves in the basement of the owners house with private entrance, bedroom, bathroom, spacious living room and large kitchen. Also we had a private parking. The self catered breakfast was fine.
The matrass of the bed was a little too soft and the appartment is a bit noisy. There are blinds in the room, no curtains, which makes that daylight enters the room at dawn.

  • Liked — Privacy and space
  • Disliked — Noisyness
