“It was dirty, blood on the wall, food encrusted on the couches, etc.”

We went to Rundle for a before Christmas holiday with our new small children. We thought having a bedroom and kitchenette would be perfect. I realized this hotel was not a new or ritzy hotel, but by what I saw it seemed clean atleast. I was disgusted when I turned on the light and opened the door. The light shone on a huge layer of dust on the couches and a big blood smudge on the wall from a bug that got squished, by who, I don't know. I called the front desk to see if this was standard and they said they have the same standards for their hotel the Banff Ptarmagan as this hotel. I will never stay there either I guess. After the phone call, I went to put our bags down and found a bunch of food encrusted on the couhes, right where the head is where my kids would be sleeping and all along the back where we came in. There were long black hairs in the tub, food that had dripped down from something at the bottom of the fridge and well, it was gross. I would expect maybe something like that from a 1 star in Mexico, but not in Canada. I was very displeased. The room was 129$ a night, you would expect something clean atleast. I paid the cleaning ladies 5$ to vacuum off the couches so that my asthma/allergies would stop and they did a bit but there was still a layer of dust on one of the couches... anyways, I am going on and on, but I was really grossed out. I had to check for bed bugs, cause who knows?

Room Tip: Bring a cleaning bucket and vacuum.

Dear Guest,
I am so sorry to hear of the experience that you had, and can assure you that this is not the level of cleanliness that is acceptable in any of our hotels. I apologize for the many items that were missed, and will double our efforts to ensure that these major items do not get missed again in the future, regardless of how busy the housekeeping staff may be. I am also sorry for the lack of empathy received form front desk, as someone should have been sent over to check your room and rectify the issues, we will strive to do better in all areas in the future.

“Old building, good for young groups”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We had a weekend stay in Banff with 12 friends for Skiing. rented two rooms.
It's an old building , small beds. It's an ok accommodation for young group who crash on sofa beds.
Our first night, lots of noise and couldn't sleep.
Second night, It was much better.
Beds are twins and too small to share.

Room Tip: Upper floors are much better, better sofa beds, less noise.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

I along with a few girlfriends meet in banff every year in October for a little get-a-way. We have stayed at Rundle Manor many times. Yes, it is old and dated but the two bedroom with kitchen that we rent nicely meets our needs. There is ample parking and it is within walking distance to all the shops on main street. The hot tub/pool sauna are in another building but very nice and well worth the short walk.

“1 Star Motel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

When we walked into the room, my first thought was,"what a dump." It looked like an apartment that transient workers would/have stayed in while working in Banff. The bed had been slept in and made up without the sheets being changed. The dirt, lipstick and other signs were a dead give away. The staff was very friendly and quick in delivering clean sheets, towels and pillow cases. We used sheets on the couches so we could sit down, and sheets on the floor so our 9 month old boy could play. The walls are paper thin, we could hear the guy downstairs snoring and the workers next door quietly talking. Thankfully we went in the off-season so things were fairly quiet. Like other reviews state, it's cheap, but not really worth it. The quality of the room seemed more like a 1 star motel; hostels are cleaner and more inviting.

Room Tip: If you have to, get an upstairs room, but if you can, spend the extra $50 and stay somewhere else.

“Cheap but not worth it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

I needed a room in Banff on short notice, and this was one of the few available. It's just an old apartment building with narrow stairways and hallways. The main entrance to the building looked very old and had torn carpet on the stairs. The door to my unit didn't close tight, even when locked. The main room of my unit had a large stain on the ceiling. The furniture was old and stained. The carpet in the unit was torn and had tripable folds. The paint on the walls was chipped off. The noise from upstairs was too much (especially at 6am). The good points; the bathroom was recently renovated, and the two bedrooms were in better shape than the rest of the unit, although there were no clocks beside either bed. The maids do the best they can, but it's putting makeup on a pig.
