“Great Beds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for one night only, was greeted by very friendly front counter staff and valet.

Room was spacious and clean with a nice fireplace. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and waitress great.

Room service menu expensive and they added on a five dollar delivery fee, which we thought was outrageous. Plus the food was cold and the coffee terrible. Could have had a better breakfast at McDonalds.

I have stayed at Delta's across the country and this would rate mid pack, just above Sherbrooke, PC Delta.

Thank you for taking the opportunity to provide a review on your recent stay with us at the Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge. We are happy to hear that you indeed enjoyed your stay with us and that you were both greeted with a warm welcome and made comfortable throughout your room and meal in the Evergreen Restaurant.
We appreciate your constructive criticism toward the in-room dining at breakfast, as I can assure you a typical in-room meal is fast, courteous and to the same quality as our restaurant fare. Plus after all we know about McDonalds... our chef’s surly have them beat with the use of fresh, local ingredients. I hope we can serve you again in the near future to show you our excellence in service.
Sincerely,
Liisa Acheson

“Okay Hotel - But not a 4-Star Property”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012
1
person found this review helpful

This hotel is a perfectly good 3 Star property (not the 4 Star it is rated in many places).
It is located in the middle of Banff's hotel strip (Banff Ave) - less than a 10 minute walk from downtown.

You almost can't go wrong with location in Banff - most hotels are on Banff Ave within walking range of downtown. The higher end hotels are a little further out, but taxis in Banff are plentiful and parking downtown is free.

The hotel is clean and well maintained. There is nothing special about the hotel, but there is nothing wrong with it either. The decor is less hotel, more stuffy traditional house with a few oddities - the bathroom had two sinks, one a pedestal, the other in a counter on the opposite side of the room, and the closet was in the bathroom?

Parking is available - self and valet parking are both $12 a day - but I was warned by the valet to have the car parked by 10 pm, otherwise there may not be room.

Dear Guest; Your comments regarding your recent stay are very appreciated as you have provided some useful constructive criticism. As you did not feel as though we meet the 4 Star standards which we daily operate as, I am interested to know what qualities you found to be of fewer standards. Our concierge will ensure your vehicle is safely parked in our underground garage should you choose to take advantage of our valet parking. Thank you for taking a great opportunity to review our amenities which I hope future travelers will use to learn more about their stay at our hotel.
Thank you for choosing Delta Hotels and the Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge

“Average Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

When we pulled up in front of the hotel, a staff member came out to greet us and gave a rather abrupt/unfriendly first impression. Had to wait to check in, while front reception took a significant amount of time on the phone.
Parking garage was spacious and convenient. When we walked into our room it was pretty chilly and had to crank up the thermostat. Room was spacious with a nice fireplace, wifi worked well. Decently close to main areas of Banff. Did not try the restaurant or pool areas as we were only there for a short period. Our stay was just average in comparison to other hotel experiences in Banff. Paid $200 for one of their higher-end rooms, but in my opinion it was not worth the price in comparison to options avaliable elsewhere.
General decor also in need of an update.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your recent stay with us. I am particularly interested in your review as the service you received, did not reflect the consistent high quality service and standards we are known for, which I am very sorry.
Please be assured that I will be following up with our Front Office Manager to ensure we are attending to our guests promptly and with a "straight from the heart" attitude. We will use your review to modify and improve our service. My sincerest apologies for your negative experience, I look forward to creating a positive one in the future.

“Calm and quiet ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed for a week , lovely staff , great room - fireplace , wonderfully comfortable bed - probably the best we encountered in our 5 weeks holiday in USA and Canada , wifi worked well ,spa and pool area really clean and lovely to use - all the expected things - easy stroll to the main areas in Banff - shops and restaurants - far enough to avoid the town centre noise .... would certainly stay again ..... just need to manage cleaning / bed making staff more closely - a number of days the bed was just pulled up and not actually made - but thats my only ( and a minor one ) complaint ...

Dear Traveling Guest,
Thank you for taking a week out of your USA/Canadian vacation to stay at our hotel and for taking the time in your travels to post a review! We are happy to have welcomed you and for providing you with a comfortable stay. Thank you for recommending our convenient location along Banff Avenue and wonderful new Delta Elite beds.
Your concern may be minor regarding the bed making, it is highly appreciated, as we have just most recently began a new "laundry porter" system where; the beds are stripped by one person, and then made fresh by another. Your concerns mean the turnaround time of the laundry porter to room attendant is not quick enough and we are happy to challenge our staff to make this new system work properly!
Thank you again for your great review!
Sincerely,
Liisa Acheson

“Room smelled a little funny”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

The room was nice with a large bathroom and a fireplace. The service was good as well. The room did smell a bit funny, but we eventually got used to it. We at the restaurant attached to it for breakfast and it was very expensive for an ordinary breakfast.
