“Value for money, great location and excellent staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Three night stay in mid January highlighted some of the comments of previous reviewers - great location, excellent staff, clean and well appointed rooms, clean and well though out swimming and hot tub areas, and the additional benefit of a complimentary wifi service.
Slightly dissapointing with the food at the 2 for 1 evenings.
This prompted us to walk across the street to 'Melissa's' for three excellent breakfasts.
A good example of the excellent and well organised staff is the service provided by the Concierge - Robert. In addition to advice and guidance about Banff and the surrounding area he offered a complimentary 'print your boarding pass service' for ourselves and other guests.

Room Tip: Third floor front - excellent views

Thank you very much for your kind comments. We pride ourselves on delivering great customer service with a warm smile to all our guests. We know that you have a choice of hotels during your stay in Banff and we appreciate your decision to stay with us.

We have many long term staff working at the hotel, in the front of the hotel as well behind the scenes and Robin is a great part of that. Together with his Concierge team they are an important part of delivering that wonderful Banff experience to you whether you want to go skiing, hiking etc. We know that we cannot perfect the scenery around Banff, so we work hard on improving the experience for you.

best thing about this is the location. it's in downtown area, so, can easily access shops, restos just by walking. Great breakfast buffet, as well.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. Yes, the location in downtown Banff is great and there are some great shops and restaurants nearby. Because of them being so close by we try very hard to deliver you with great dining experiences in our two wonderful restaurants.

Many people just enjoy the breakfast buffet, but we have wonderful dining available in our Terrace Dining Room and wonderful seasonal dinner buffets in the Chinook Family Restaurant. We offer great food at a great value, so check it out when you are in Banff next.

“Home base for family ski trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We took our boys (4 & 5) skiing for the weekend and we checked in on Friday night around 4 pm. Everything was smooth and the heated underground parking was a nice added bonus as well. The staff were great the entire weekend except for Sunday morning brunch. The waitress copped serious attitude because we didn't have a reservation. We were very confused why she was so upset as we were the only people in the joint for brunch at that time. when we left an hour later only 1/2 the restaruant was full.

They had a seafood buffet on Friday night which was awesome (clam chowder was great) for $20/person, kids ate free!!! The German buffet on Saturday leaves a lot to be desired although the german octoberfest uniforms were entertaining. They also had some guy playing a VERY loud accordian playing so we could have conversation with the 7 other people in our dinner party. We asked the waitress if the guy could play somewhere else and they did ask the guy to move but he kept coming back and playing louder & louder beside our table. Skip the saturday buffet is basically what I am saying. NOT ONE PERSON IN OUR PARTY ENJOYED THE FOOD OR THE ENTERTAINMENT!!!

If you like to hoist a couple cold ones after a day of skiing it might be a good idea to take your own as they are very expensive at the hotel...Erdinger is $9...

They kick kids out of the pool area at 9pm which was a bummer so we couldn't enjoy the hot tub after dinner either night. Parlty our fault for having a 730 reservation for dinner each night.

The rooms were clean, service was great Friday night, Saturday and Sunday was brutal but all in all we were very happy and are booking there again in Feb 2012.

Thank you very much for your comments. Our apologies if you experienced a less than perfect dining experience – your comments have been passed on to the Director of Food and Beverage and his staff.

While we always recommend reservations for our popular Sunday Brunch, we welcome walk-ins when possible. Our Saturday Bavarian dinner buffet is new this year and so was the live entertainment. With your comments we have been able to make some adjustments and the entertainment and food are now enjoyed by all.

All our seasonal dinner buffets are available till around Easter and we hope that you are able to enjoy them again on your next visit.

“The place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I have been traveling to Banff for the past 8 years. I have stayed at a couple other places however the Banff Park Lodge is THE place to stay. From the moment you enter the doors, hear the crackling of the fire, and are greeted by both the front desk staff and the concierge it marks the beginning of a great stay. The rooms are very clean, well cared for, and are spacious. My personal favorite thing to do is soak in the Eucalyptus Steam room. It is the great start to the day and a great way to end the day. The Chinook restaurant provides an awesome breakfast (full menu or buffet) which is a great way to get energized for your day. It has a practical location. You are able to park your vehicle in the underground parking and walk to a majority of the great things Banff has to offer. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering Banff as their destination for business, as a family getaway, or to celebrate a special occasion.

Room Tip: All the rooms hold great value. I have stayed in the superior with double beds, the suite with a kin...

“Good in Banff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We just spent a couple nights in Banff and stayed at the Banff Park Lodge. The rooms are a bit worn but they are quite large and well kept. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and the location is great.

The breakfasts are expensive but there are a lot of other alternatives very close by. We got an excellent rate for the midweek days so it was good value.

There was an issue with noise and what seemed to be quite a large party on the night before New Years. I spoke with a couple of other guests and they were kept up as well.

Overall, a nice stay.
