We stayed here for a week during winter to snowboard in Sunshine and hike around Banff. We had read previous reviews and requested a renovated unit, on the upper floor, in a quiet area. We had a cosy 2 bedroom unit about 5 mins walk from the main building, which we enjoyed because we had no issues with noise, and with the unit facing the back towards a stream, we could hear running water and there was complete privacy. The downside of this is that the wifi signal is weak and a little slow, although fine for our needs. Also, we had to walk to the main building to use the laundromat, and although it's a short walk, this was probably the reason why we didn't use the hot tub or pool there - putting on everything to walk in -10 degrees to the main building and taking it all off again was too much of a hassle! That said, with our bath tub and the wood fire, we were more than happy with spending the evenings in.
Service is great - on the first night we realised that our oven extractor hood wasn't working and called it in, the next day it was fixed. We ordered logs that were brought to our unit on the same day outside our door. We got given the wrong wifi password on the first night but managed to get it sorted the following night. Reception was very friendly and helpful, in particular a chap there called Michael who seemed to be manning things 24 hours - he was there when we popped in early in the morning and then late at night the same day!
Our unit was spread over two floors, with the kitchen, living room and shower downstairs, and the two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. The condition was clean and cosy - we had no issues taking a bath in the tub upstairs, and the shower room downstairs was modern and clean. The real wood burning fire was a great novelty feature for us - we spent almost every night burning not just the logs but whatever paper we were going to bin. Yes, you do pay for the logs but at $7 for what looked like as much as one person could carry, with chopped up bits for kindling, but this worked to be actually cheaper than buying it at the supermarket. (For one week, we bought two lots of wood.) We had an open grate with wire curtains you could draw to stop the spluttering from coming out, that you could stack logs in - lots of fun! We cooked in three nights and the oven, grill, hob worked well - good supply of kitchen utensils and pans, great to have a dishwasher too. Ample space with a whole empty pantry for storage. Was a little disappointed the kitchen wasn't island-style, but it was open to the living room with a small dining table area. Sofa in front of the fire had good support and seemed well built, although I didn't care for the dark colours and plaid pattern. Napped well enough on it though! Have to say that the bedrooms are a little tight - we were travelling as a coupled so were able to use one bedroom for our luggages, but if not, we'd have had to unpack things into the cupboards and closets - insufficient floor space to leave the suitcases open. Everything seems to have been thought out though - from a tray for wet boots in the coat closet next to the front door, to the outdoor rack for snowboards/skis. Enjoyed our stay here very much.
Location-wise, it is on the edge of Banff (still walkable if you're a hiking type) - they also have an hourly shuttle I think into Banff too - but I kind of liked the distance away from busy and touristy Banff. We were also lucky enough to spot a coyote on one of our morning drives into Banff, right beside the road on our right a minute or two after we drove out from the resort.
Lastly, upon check-in we were presented with some discount coupons which were quite handy - apparently the resort was bought over a year and a half ago, and now they have these discount partners - we liked the little rocky mountain soap provided in the unit, and also the discount they had for the shop in banff :)
