“Could do better”

Firstly the positives. The place looks good, the Honeymoon suite was lovely, great location.
Now the negatives. Where do we begin? On arrival we found the parking lot (underground) was a nightmare to get in and the parking spaces were the tightest we've seen in Canada and the US. When we mentioned this to the guy who checked us in he seemed surprised. Check in was poor. No-one at the desk to greet us and we had to phone somewhere (where I don't know but we didn't pay for call) to get someone along to check us in. We stayed 5 nights in total and our room was never cleaned in all that time. The only evidence we had of anyone coming to the room was the bed being made and that was it. Bins not emptied, toiletries not replaced (very minor), towels not replaced with clean ones and no hoovering of the floor. Also noticed that the dirty bed linen bags were piled up against the fire exit doors.
We didn't have any food whilst here as we went to the Keg at the Banff Caribou Lodge instead which we would highly recommend. We also agree that the whole place does have a hostel feel about it which is strange given the outside. Would we stay here again? Absolutely not!

“Could be better ...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2007

I stayed here during the ski season and booked through a tour operator who take over this hotel during the winter months. As such when you stay here then its on a full board basis and to put it bluntly the food and wine included is just awful esp. when you consider how good the food is in Banff generally. It really is not worth the money to stay here full board during the winter months with this tour operator. We probably had one decent meal in our ten nights here - in the end we ate our more often. Okay thats the bad over with - the good: the room are large, very comfortable double beds and we had a jacuzzi in our bathroom - I cannot fault the rooms. The location of the hotel is also good - only five mins from Banff Avenue main area. I would stay here again if I could stay on a room only basis but not if the food was included.

“Stay Clear- not clean, no customer service- would not go back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2007

A Major disappointment. Stay clear of this place

My first clue should have been they had a vacancy in August
in Banff..................now I know...........don't book here.

We stayed one night-that was enough, I do not know where to start. The room was not clean, there was hair in the bed
(yes before I slept on it) and the pillow cases had been changed but that was it-- we called the manager a teenager who had
his friends over, to come up and change the bed.
There was one fan in the room, no airconditioning, dusty blinds,
unvacumed carpeting.

This place is run by kids, it looks very nice from outside, but stay clear of it, the bathtub and sink had hair in it, it had been cleaned but still hair in it. The hallways were dirty, the breakfast
room was dirty, tables were not washed off, corn flakes out in a big bowl with flies flying around, all in all it was terrible.

The teenage kids who run the place did not care, and why should they- their just kids, they looked upkept and had a bad attitude towards customer service.
In the morning the girl who was at the front desk, said there
had been complaints by other guests, but she did not really care either, she did wash the tables off with a dirty cloth and said it was the night guys job to make sure it was clean.
She also had a friend hanging around with her, both looked
unkept.

A major disappointment, Banff itself is lovely just not the

“Can't really work this place out...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2007

Strange place this really - good location a few mins from downtown. Queen suite was large and airey with comfortable bed(s).

The whole atmosphere of the place was more hostel then hotel -from the poor cleanliness to the meagre breakfast and the amatuerish staff - it wouldn't hurt to make just a bit more effort.

Not terrible, just could have been so much nicer with a little tlc.

“Won't go back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2007

I also experienced being charged $20 (plus tax) a night more than I was quoted when I made a reservation. Explanation was faulty (tax on tax) and dumbo me paid it. Also, didn't even get a detailed itemized bill.
