“NO parking unless your vehicle is 5'9 and smaller!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

Overall my stay was okay. The room was super tiny and we had absolutely no view at all, but it was clean and breakfast was very nice (only until 10AM though). The only big complaint is that the underground parking is for vehicles 5'9 and smaller, which doesn't work well with a truck or SUV, and parking along the street is very limited(4-5 vehicles). The location is pretty good, a quick walk to downtown. The pool looked very small and no privacy at all (it is situated right in the lobby). I am a big fan of Best Western's that's why I chose to stay here, but because of the parking I don't think I will return.

Dear Guest,

I'm sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your stay at Siding 29 Lodge. We do have larger rooms with a view and we would've been happy to place you in one if requested. Unfortunately, not all of our rooms have a view, but most of them do.

The underground parking clearance is 5'9 because that is the shortest height in the parkade. Most of the parkade is about 6'5 and there are many large vehicles that can fit underneath, It can fit most large trucks and suv's.

The pool is not located right in the lobby it is a half floor above the lobby and over. The pool is not the largest pool but it is always kept warm for our guests enjoyment.

Thank you,
Management

“Birthday In Presedenital Suite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

A few reviews down someone wrote a review that just bashed the Presidential Suite. We decided to go anyway. My fiance and I went for my birthday. We wanted somewhere right on Banff Ave and the location was excellent. Lets just say for $250.00 in Banff in a prime location and everything we got was a fantastic value. Why stay in a standard room at the Banff Springs Hotel for $300 a night? I have done that before and I was extremely unimpressed. There you get a view, a small room, a toilet, bed and a TV. Well last night as I looked up at the mountains and the sun was setting from my private balcony in a brand new private hot tub I said this is the life! King Size bed with massive pillars, balcony with sliding doors, couch with full pull out bed, Gorgeous wood furniture with marble tops, wet bar with illuminated lighting, Fridge, tons of space, internet, quiet room, IPOD docking station for some romantic music, great movies still in theaters to choose from. Adult content for those that are adventurous. Keep in mind we didn't pay $1000 a night so we didn't expect absolute luxury and a grand piano. For a nice romantic night away at a reasonable price it was fantastic!

So there were just a couple things that we would love to see changed for this room for our next visit. The hot water was running out, we were the last ones to check out as we stayed late and had the free breakfast. If your an early riser before 9am am you may not have had this problem. The other was it is time for a new T.V The 27 inch just did not fit the room at all. With the space in that room a larger TV is required to be able to watch from the Bed. A flat screen 40 inch TV would have made this room excellent!

“Warm & Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

The hotel staff were so very nice! The hotel itself is so very warm though, with the heat on the upper floor hallway set to 80F. The rooms were nice & the beds very fresh & comfy, but we ended up having to sleep with the balcony door ajar in order to cool the room enough (in Feb). There was a temp control in the room, but setting it didn't make any difference this time of year, and turning the fan on only brought more heat. It would be nice for anyone liking to sleep warm though, with dry air! Lots of variety for breakfast. We didn't use the coffee mugs in the room because they didn't look thoroughly clean. The fridge & microwave were nice to have. Location was a little further from downtown than we had expected because our google map was not accurate. Overall we enjoyed our visit to Banff though!

“Best Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

We stayed in this hotel 02/01/11, and we had a great time, best hotel we ever stayed in, rooms just renovated since the last time we were there around 2 years ago, beds are excellent, full breakfast in the morning is a PLUS, good choices of food and staff are very friendly.
We will definitely stay in this hotel again. Thank you very much for the good hospitality!!!

“Presidential Suite - Private Hot Tub - Room is falling apart!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

Stayed just one night, but now part of a suspicious death investigation by RCMP!!!

Booked the Presidential Suite - Suite with a private hot-tub on the balcony - for a weekend ski trip. The only thing worth the money was the private hot-tub on the balcony. The room itself was falling apart (see pictures). The TV was broken, dresser and cabinet doors off their hinges unable to close, wallpaper falling off the walls, walls falling apart around electrical switches, bat-tub faucet pipe exposed, hot and cold indicators mis-matched in the shower, I could go on and on and on.

During the night a fight/argument broke out outside of our room which had absolutely paper thin walls. For approx 45 minutes around 4am people were shouting and kicking doors.

This morning... a call from the Banff RCMP (Police) wanting to interview me as there was a "suspicious death" at the Best Western the night I stayed there. This same hotel was in the news approx two weeks ago with a police situation where the suspect fell off the balcony trying to flee police but fell onto the police car in the parking lot. This hotel clearly has some issues with its clientele. When I called the front desk at 4am to complain about the noise all I was told by the front desk staff was "I know I know, sir I have someone at the front desk, I know".

Based on the fact that the room was falling apart, and the police involvement which I'm going to assume was in relation to all of the commotion in the middle of the night outside my room... I would just stay at the Best Western in Canmore if I were you!

Dear Guest,

I would like to apologize for the night of January 6th, 2011. There were some unfortunate events that took place involving the death of a young man. We cannot monitor everything that is going on in the hotel at all times and if there is any noise or problems the front desk staff does their best to fix the situation as soon as possible. This was a bit of a different situation considering that the police had to be called in and I apologize that you are now part of a suspicious death investigation. As far as the police being called to the hotel a couple of weeks ago is a total coincidence. We normally do not have these problems at the hotel.

I would also like to apologize that the Presidential Suite was not up to your standards. We will try out best to fix the problems that you pointed out and were not happy with. Maintenance would have been happy to fix these problems if they were informed. We want to make sure that all of our guests feel comfortable and safe at all times.

Thank you,
Matt Henderson
