“great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

people found this review helpful

My husband ,myself and sister stayed here for one night and found it great. The front desk clerk was friendly, the rooms clean and the bathroom(which I am very fussy about) super clean with lots of towels etc. The only complaint I have was the breakfast. Everything that was to be hot was cold. There was lots food but it was cold . If staying in that area I would say you really have to eat at Bumpers. We would stay here again if we were in the area..

“Decent stay for a last minute getaway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

My Husband and I stayed at this property for a last minute weekend getaway. It was just about the last hotel room left available in Banff over the long weekend and we were lucky to get a room, especially seeing as we also required a pet friendly property!

The hotel was adequate. We were impressed with the room itself, very good size and nicely outfitted. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean. We did however find the room was warm during the night and the air conditioning was not very effective. We found the location to be just a bit far from the main strip, but that didn't bother us too much. We also found the hot tub was not very hot during our visit, we didn't stay in it for very long. The complimentary breakfast was a welcome bonus to the price of our stay, although the quality of the food was not the best, it was comparable to other free hotel breaksfasts I have experienced.

We would stay at this hotel again if we were in the area and believe the value was good based on the price we paid during a summer long weekend in a hot tourist spot!

“Weekend out in Banff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We normally go to Canmore as the prices are much more reasonable, but this weekend we felt like a change so we booked ourselves and our dog a weekend away to Banff. The room was very clean and very large. A little old fashioned but we loved it. Located very central and not too far a walk from the Main Down town shops. We went out walking around the area lots and saw a few deer and the biggest stag we have every seen. We got lots of good shopping deals and we had a amazing meal at Earls on the ground level. The hotel breakfast room was very small and crowded but the food was ample, nothing great but enough to eat to get you through until much later when there are a hundred choices of places to eat. The hotel pool and hot-tub were very refreshing and overall the weekend was great and we would definately go back to the same hotel again.

Room Tip: Just ask for the biggest best room with a great view, with a balcony and hope for what you asked for...

“Average but very spacious room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The room was very spacious and had a large balcony. There was a pool. It was clean and friendly staff. We didn't try the breakfast because of an early start but the area where it was being served was small. Good value for the money. Short walk to main shopping area.

“Seems to be consistently well run.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

This will be the third time that we've stayed at the Best Western in Banff. The primary reason that we select this hotel is for its pet-friendly offering. We witnessed quite a few families/couples with pets but have not been disturbed by barking on any of the occasions that we've visited.

The rooms are well appointed with premium furniture, sheets/pillows, and the bathrooms look pleasing to the eye.

They have a swimming pool which looks like it is a hit with families. Location-wise it's pretty much on Banff Avenue so is only a stroll into the heart of Banff. There is heated parking below which we did not have to pay for.

Being shoulder season (October 21st) we got a rate of $116 with our CAA card ($130 after taxes).

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel which overlooks a condo block but was quiet. Not the best vie...
