“Mountain Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2012 NEW

Nice hotel which has lodge type cabins around the woods. Great views of the mountains and wildlife.

The rooms were medium sized with a nice open fire in the corner. This was great as the temperatures dropped at night.

Nice comfy beds but the tv was in an awkward place, you could only see it from the beds and not from the chairs in the room.

Free wifi throughout the hotel and rooms and again free parking. Good central location and was only a km or so from town. Staff were very helpfull and friendly too.

“First impression not good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2012 NEW

Drove from Jasper to Banff expecting something great, not so.... Got to our room, really small two double beds and two chairs in front of an open fire place. Sounds quaint,... but could not fit in anything else. Upon inspection, no fridge!! Staying for 4 nights. Staff lovely and very helpful when we asked about a fridge. Offered to bring one to our room? I couldnt imagine where it was going to fit. They offered an upgrade for $30 per night which we took. Accommodation certainly much bigger but carpet grubby and with the open fire place the room smells. Fire wood supplied which is great but smoke alarm goes off a lot when fire lit. We were on the ground floor of a second level, all the water usuage above can be heard, ie/ toilet and showers. Laundrey expensive and they charge for ice. there is free WIFI but very slow. Banff itself is magnificent.

“A retreat unto itself.”

Was at Buffalo Mountain Lodge for a Yoga retreat. I live close to Banff and have been there many times though rarely to stay a night. My experience was wonderful. The staff, the setting, the food, the rooms, were all wonderful. Clean, comfortable, quiet. My room even had a claw foot tub! The bathroom was huge. There were robes in my room but not in my friends.

There is a fireplace in the room, and if you are not able to start a fire, there is help readily available. The views during my stay would have been beyond spectacular had it been clear during my stay however, it was a lovely surprise, each time I was near, to see which clouds hid mountains when it did start to clear.

For those who've never been, this Hotel is not in the main town, but is a 20 min walk to town. There is a bus, or you can call a taxi. Being out of town makes it quiet, though on one night there were young people enroute to a gathering that were very loud for my friends in a room near the front of the hotel, while I heard nothing from my room towards the back.

My only wish was that there had been a small fridge and/or a microwave in the room.

Room Tip: All rooms seem quite different. Some fireplaces have a gas starter, others have a claw footed tub, g...

“Night in Banff”

We spent one night in a suite with a fireplace and king bed at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. The rooms are quaint and the fireplace is really nice. They leave you lots of great wood so it is easy to get your fire going. The bathrooms are beautiful with heated floors and nice slate. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hot tub is large and you feel you are out in nature. The only thing I don't like is that the rooms are dark and there are not enough lights. If you want to read a book or newspaper with your morning coffee it isn't the best. The restaurant is quite good as well, but for the price I think the Bison cafe down in town is far better and much more lively.

“Mountain Getaway in April”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2012

We stayed at Buffalo Mountain Lodge for two nights in a suite with our daughter. The check-in staff were welcoming and very friendly. This lodge is situated on Tunnel Mountain, just up from the town of Banff. The spectacular beauty surrounding us at the lodge included the majestic snow covered mountains, icing dipped tall pines and a piercingly blue sky. We were here for a family wedding and it was a perfect spot for a romantic getaway.
There are separate lodges on two levels etched into the mountainside. Our suite was lovely. The king bed was comfy, the bathroom clean, and the living area was set off by a wonderful stone fireplace. Our little kitchenette was convenient as we were able to have breakfast, snacks and lunch in the room if we wished. There was also a two burner stove, in case we wanted to cook. For anyone thinking of having a spring wedding with snow, this lodge is the perfect spot. The food for the wedding was excellent and the staff attentive. The beauty of the venue was amazing. However, as a couple retreat, or anyone wishing to ski, this hotel is perfectly situated to Norquay and the quaint town of Banff. Visiting winter time in April was like stepping back to a glorious Christmas--except that the views and brisk mountain air made our stay even more glorious.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room if possible. We were on the second floor and the stairs were steep. Our...
