“Perfectly located escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We had a fantastic stay at the Cairns Rainforest Studios, in the Bulurru studio. We stayed for 4 nights, only wish it could have been longer!
Jon & Laura are so welcoming and generous with their knowledge and suggestions of things to do & places to eat. We enjoyed many swims in the pool, and the warm nights sitting out on the balcony with a drink. Peaceful, quiet location surrounded by the beautiful rainforest, but still only a short drive in to town.
We look forward to staying there again, hopefully in the near future, and have already highly recommended our family and friends to stay there when they visit Cairns.
Thanks Jon & Laura, and we hope to be staying with you again soon! Regards, Jess & Jay, Port Lincoln, South Australia.

“Hop, Skip & a Jump to Cairns Airport & Attractions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I was fortunate to stay with Laura & Jon in the last week in November & found that the studios were very well run & extremely handy to all locations especially the northern beaches, Skyrail & the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park which i was honoured to work at during my time in Cairns. Though i must say for me the Barron Gorge National Park at the end of the street ( a few hundred metres ) is a wonderful place for anybody who loves bushwalking & nature with amazing scenery, pristine creeks & river plus wildlife all in this great forest setting with a variety of different grade walking trails to choose from. I could have spent the whole time there if i didn't have to work !! This place was a real find & i will have to come back & walk up to Kuranda one day.

“First Class near Cairns”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

We stayed in the upstairs studio for 11 days at the end of October. This really was a great find, good value, very clean and comfortable and excellent location for days trips out to beaches, rainforest, tablelands and other attractions nearby (Karunda Train and Skyrail and Cultural centre). You do need a car which is easy to organise from UK and they pick you up at the airport. You have use of Laura & Jon's pool which was very refreshing at the end of the afternoon. The kitchenette has all you need for holiday catering which we did every day except for one evening when we got fish n chips from nearby Redlynch. Supermarket and bottleshop are just a short drive away. You have shared use of washing machine and dryer as well. Cairns botanical gardens are a real treat or you can just walk out of studio up into Stoney Creek. Jon & Laura have put together plenty of information in a folder and will give lots of helpful advice and made you really welcome. Would not hesitate to reccommend.

“Fantastic location, great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

My husband and I stayed in the upstairs studio in Oct 2011. We loved our time there, and was the best thing we did in North Queensland.

The accommodation is very clean and comfortable, and great value for money, especially because it is self-contained. The bathroom (with spa bath) and deck in particular were our favourites.

The location is fantastic - far nicer than staying in Cairns. The rainforest is beautiful and an easy 20 minute walk from the accommodation is a stunning rainforest pool you can swim in - paradise! It is an easy drive to Cairns, the northern beaches and Port Douglas. Lake Placid (part of the Barron River) is only 5 minutes drive away also, and should not be missed.

Jon and Laura were the perfect hosts. We usually stay in hotels and enjoy the anonymity, but Jon and Laura were never intrusive, and so helpful. Their suggestions of restaurants, cafes and walks meant we could get away from the tourist traps and have some amazing experiences. The cafe at the Cairns Botanical Gardens and the walk we took along the Kuranda Railway are just two examples.

We are looking forward to returning to Cairns and staying at the Rainforest Studios again.

“Rainforest Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

We stayed with Jon & Laura in April and had a ball. We had the ground floor studio and found it extremely comfortable and well appointed. The verandah is ideal for breakfast with the birds and happy hour in the lush surrounds is just something else. Traveling time to Cairns city centre is only 20 mins but everything we needed was at nearby Smithfield and Redlynch. Some great restaurants in the surrounding suburbs so no real need to travel into the city. Skyrail and Freshwater train station are just a few minutes away. There are excellent rainforest walking tracks right out the front door in the World Heritage rainforest and beautiful Stoney Creek is a 2 min walk away with lots of lovely little pools for cooling down in. We can't recommend the studios highly enough and Jon & Laura are fab hosts.
