“Your best pick for a Polyforum trade show !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2010

I am writing this on my laptop sitting on my KING SIZE BED next to the pool/patio using the free wifi from my room at Hotel Real de minas polyforum . If your like myself and come here to attend one of the many trade shows that Mexico host at the Polyforum convention center then this hotel should be your #1 top pick. The Hotel de minas polyforum(not to be confused with the micro hotel down the street that has the same name) is located directly across the street from the main entrance to the Polyforum trade shows. The hotel has certainly got all the FREE-bees that any business traveler could ever desire . This full service establishment offers a wonderful hi class pool side buffet on friday's and Sat. with a enjoyable live band that plays just loud enough so you can still carry on a intelligent conversation without raising your voice. They have a full service business center, spa, massage, gym and a first class restaurant with great food at affordable prices. On the weekends there is also another british style pub that plays live rock/blues music and offers up all the comforts of home,This is open only from Fri-Sun . Although it is true that the rooms may be a bit dated, they are comfortable, secure and extremely clean.

There is american cable on the large flat screen Tv with a 100+ channel's available in both spanish and english. I arrived at the airport during the evening rush hour and it took perhaps 20 min. by taxi to reach the hotel. I highly recommend this place . One of the best kept secrets for Polyforum trade shows. Its a great deal for the low price I paid via a internet travel agency . Personally; I would make this my primary destination when I vist the city of Leon mexico again . I travel all over the world for my business and its rare to find such good, clean service at exceptional value as Hotel de Minas , Their wonderful staff really went the extra mile . Great room service that will get you anything you want even if they have to run to the store and buy it for you . The staff really IS what makes this place such a great place to stay....A rare gem...This place has it all,so much so that there is hardly any reason to leave the comforts of the hotel !

“There are better options in Leon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2009

The hotel is nothing to write home about. The rooms are old and dated, the beds are not particularily comfortable. The internet connection wasnt bad, and you could move to a window nook which overlooked the pool to do work. The cortyard area was the only saving feature, and I spent any free time sitting by the pool as my room felt a little prision-ish. In the evening however, there was a wonderful buffet at the restaurant in the courtyard complete with fabulous jazz music. Honestly, if I didnt spend most of the time outside, I would have switched hotels. I would recommend the NE it is just down the road, much nicer and about the same price.

“Other hotels nearby are better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel. It was just OK. The best part of the room was the large two person Jacuzzi tub in the larger suite. But the rest of the room was a little shabby and in need of some repairs. The service was good but not outstanding. For roughly the same price you can stay in better hotels nearby, such as Radisson, Holiday Inn, etc

“Not what we expected”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2008

We stayed in this hotel because we had a week long meeting there. There were a lot of children in our group and we expected the hotel to be more child-friendly. There isn't anywhere for the kids to play and the pool is very small. We used a few of their smaller conference rooms for our kid's meetings. They were filthy and I found broken glass all over the floor. I had to sweep twice to remove it.

The staff was very pleasant, but very few of them spoke any english. It may be difficult to make your needs clear unless you know some key phrases.

The rooms were very old and shabby. The beds were extremely uncomfortable as the mattresses were placed on plywood. If you need more than 2 towels, you will have to find a maid to get the extra ones. They do provide you with bottled water.

Our room had tile floors, but some of the others had carpet. The carpet was old and very stinky. There is very little closet or drawer space to put your clothes if you are staying for any length of time.

The food was very good in the restaurant. Some of the meals we had were catered and were not as good.

The one thing we did not find out until we go there was that you cannot flush the toilet paper in the toilet after using it. You must put it in the trashcan next to the toilet. If you don't follow this, your toilet will overflow. It happened to 2 couples in our group.

The hotel is in a good location - near a bus stop and only a few blocks from the leather market.

I would not recommend this facility to anyone that has children or is picky about the cleanliness. I definitely wouldn't stay here again if given the chance.

“Great Service Terrible Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2008

I hate to say anything bad about this hotel because the staff was so friendly, courteous, and helpful, but the roomsare very old and in serious need of an upgrade. They offer pool-side rooms but they only have 2 double beds (no king beds) - these rooms have tile floors and are old and dirty looking. I rejected these rooms and opted for a room with a King size bed - it wass off in a wing away from the pool, and had carpet on the floor, but the carpet was shabby and worn out. The room also had a bad odor and overall seemed dirty and worn-out. The included breakfast buffet was average. The Radisson is about a mile away and is new, clean, and $30 per night cheaper. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel.
