“Clean, modern, inexpensive, conveniently located.”

I stayed at this hotel for a week, to attend the 2010 WRC Rally Mexico. Several of the racing teams were also staying there. The hotel is at the intersection of the main road from the airport, and the main road into the historic downtown. It is within easy walking distance to the Poliforum (convention center), the soccer stadium, museums, and the Explorer Park. It is about a half an hour walk from downtown, but worth the effort. In Leon it can be difficult to find hotel staff that speak English (it isn't a tourist destination for the most part), but the Holiday Inn had enough to get by. The rooms were clean and modern. They have free Wi-Fi. They serve a decent buffet breakfast, but the other meals were average. The restaurant is open 24-hours a day. They have complimentary secured underground parking. If you're into shopping, there are two shopping malls across the street that mostly have leather goods.

“Ugh!”

This hotel was bad. It had nice surroundings but there wasn't much to do around the hotel. A really expensive restaurant and wait staff that charge you $10 American for "service charge" there, 40min+ wait for room service, and if your tip isn't over five-ten dollars than the service get worse. But than it had some good points. Another thing about the restaurant is it had NO decent food. No straight burger and fries or a simple sandwich. Just some little pieces of meat drowned in some mystery sauce with this child's cup of a drink. I went next door to McDonald's for food.

The cleaning staff did a great job and our stuff wasn't taken so thats a good point right?...Well if you don't know Spanish than i wouldn't stay here...there was no help and we never did find anyone who spoke a word of English and yes, its Mexico but when you stay at what you think is a "big" hotel you would think you would have SOME English speakers since i thought that the majority of their guests come from overseas...And the pool...It was so ting i swear fifteen people would hop in and it would be too full and it was shallow, "oh yeah, i would go on holiday and wade in a pool that reaches my hip..plus there was no sunlight so sunbathing out in the sun is out...our only view was of the pool and if we look across we see other rooms etc...

So if you have a limited budget and want to shop than i would suggest you come here, you spend your money all within before you are able to go out and shop...

  • Liked — It had transpotation to and from the hotel to airport
  • Disliked — The waiting staff in the resturant

“We enjoyed this Holiday Inn”

We stayed here one night and were impressed at how clean the hotel was and the nice ambience. Staff was friendly & helpful. However, we did believe there was complimentary shuttle to & from the airport and there was no shuttle from the airport (don't know if they offered one to the airport), which was a surprise as they informed me there was one. Taxi was not that pricey, though. We would definitely stay there again.

“Nice hotel well located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2006

This is a nice hotel located in central Leon Mexico. It is just two blocks from the Bus Station, and across the street from the Leather Plaza and the Shoe Plaza.
Rooms are spacious, clean, and well maintained. They have free high speed wireless internet access in floors two and three, and at the restaurant. Also they have a business center where you can use their computers, print on their printers, at no extra cost.
Staff is polite and very helpful. The dry cleaning and laundry service are efficient and not expensive (well, not for a hotel).
I had a very pleasant time at this hotel. Did not got a chance to use the pool or the gym but they seemed nice from the distance.
No noise from other rooms, not yelling at the corridors, it is a hotel for relaxing and enjoying. I saw some children playing by the pool with their parents, and some kids at the restaurant so I think it can be considered a family friendly hotel. Besides, there is a McDonalds next door.
They have room service available 24 hours, except on Sunday when they close at midnight.
It takes 25 minutes from the hotel to the airport (BJX) and costs $16 usd aprox.
I have stayed in this hotel like five times, I guess, and always leave and return with a smile.
There are two Holiday Inn hotels close together, make sure you select the one across the street from Plaza Piel.
Hope this review is useful for you. Happy trails.
