Our family spent over two weeks touring Mexico in the summer of 2003.
We stayed for a week in Leon at the Fiesta Americana and loved every part of our stay there. The room that we were originally put in had no working air conditioning and they were more that happy to get us another room without any hassels. The service from the staff was Five Star, and the room rates were some of the most reasonable we've found anywhere!

Swimming and tennis on site, shopping and a couple of good restaurants within the building. Adds up to a really fine, if somewhat insulated, hotel. Another reviewer mentioned the hospitality drinks... true enough, so watch out.

For the cost, it's about what you'll pay for the comparable level of service and comfort elsewhere in the world. It's no bargain, but the value is there. And the reverse osmosis filtration means you can drink the water while you take a shower.

The hotel ( Fiesta Americana, Leon) is beautiful and personnel are charming. Service is pretty consistent. They are, however, remiss in letting their guests know the rules. Before the dinner hour they have wines, beers, scotches etc. for our use in hte hospitality area. What they neglect to tell (or have a sign or any indication at all) is a "well" drink cost and it cost plenty...the wine, sodas (and I believe the beer but am unsure here) are complimentary. This still upsets me...The price was high and I had Scotch in my room but thought it would be nice to enjoy a glass in the sitting area. It was very frustrating (still is). We did have room problems (many did not get what they had requested) but soon had most of that straightened out, but it was a "downer" and quite surprising and took quite some time getting it all sorted out.
