A friend recommended this hotel because of its location, within walking distance of the center of town but in a quiet neighborhood. These are its strong points. The grounds and gardens are very nice, too, as is the coffee shop. No one at the front desk could speak enough English to be useful, however, and there were little problems with the room,-- things that didn't quite work or were loose, missing shampoo, that sort of thing. The key-card had to be re-coded every day. Worst was that the air in my first room actually raised the temperature instead of lowering it. Unable to correct the problem, they moved me to a different room. If I hadn't had a Spanish-speaking friend with me I don't know how I would have gotten by.

What makes Hotel Xalapa such a great place to stay is it's people, the staff I was so impressed about how I was made to feel at home. It is a beatiful hotel and is located close to everything. Across the street is a beautiful park called Tecajetes.Your minutes from all the inner city attractions like the cathedral or the markets or great restaurants.
