The best place to stay in Xalapa. It is friendly, clean, green, spacious and walking distance from the center. The prices are really good and cheaper than other places (which look cheaper on paper) if you share a room. Continental breakfast is included.
Very agreable atmosphere.

Great wee hotel of about 20 rooms set round 2 courtyards. Really good value, around 500 pesos a night for two with breakfast included. It was a bit nosiy in the morning as various groups got themselves organised, and there wasn't much of a smile with breakfast, but at this price in a central location, you can't beat it. We loved being within strolling distance of the main square, but not able to hear it from our room!

A very nice clean hotel on a very quiet street. Easy walking distance to the centre of town and many good restuarants. Free continental breakfast expandable to bacon and eggs for two for 70 pesos.Good shower with plenty of hot water. Comfortable beds. Found a good laundry three minutes walk down the street and uo hill to the right. Very cheap and good quality. Had a few problems with the hotel free wi-fi but two or three very cheap internet cafes within a hundred metres. The archaelogical museum was brilliant. Friday evening symphonic orchestra in the main theatre should not be missed. Botanical gardens also worth a visit. Taxis to all these very cheap.

The Posada has a great location, about a 5 minute walk from the center of the city and some great cafes and bars. That and the price was enough to sell us, but the hotel exceeded our expectations.

Our rooms were clean and simple, with no frills. There wasn't a lot of extra space, but we weren't cramped either. They also had plenty of windows and good fans; since we were there in late May, this was great for keeping our rooms cool.

A continental breakfast is served from 7-11am every day, with the option to make it a full breakfast for only a few pesos more. For my family, the continental breakfast was more than enough. I usually got a plate of fruit (a nice portion) and a cup of yogurt with granola, while my parents generally got a plate of fruit and a croissant or a bowl of cereal.

The staff was friendly and helpful in offering directions to points of interest (which buses to take and where to find them, etc). None of the staff that we encountered spoke English, though we never tried speaking to them in English, so perhaps some of them held a secret talent. :)

The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are set up around a courtyard which is more or less divided in half by an ivy-covered all. Tables are set up throughout the courtyard, which make for nice places to enjoy a good book in the afternoon after la comida.

Finally, the price is right. We paid roughly $50 per night for our 4 person room (the price includes breakfast for all 4 of us as well). Prices for smaller rooms or suites vary accordingly.
