“Well, it looked OK on the Internet...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2010

This property is desperately in need of updating and maintenance (and perhaps new management). The exterior of the buildings look like they were recently painted and the lobby is bright and open, but that's about it. The land leading up to the hotel is overrun with weeds and trash even though it's in a good area of Colima, and Colima is a pretty clean city.
Cleanliness of the room was also marginal. The sheets and towels were worn out rags with rips/holes. The pillows were limp and dead, the mattress well past it's useful life. Most of the light bulbs in the room were either missing or burnt out, the electricity kept shorting out; the bathroom was so dark you couldn't see to brush your teeth or take a shower (no window), the shower doors were off track & wouldn't close so the floor got flooded.
But the air conditioner worked well!
The interior design of the room was dreadful--like a 1970's era Motel 6, except cheesier and more depressing with cheap furniture and outrageously bright, mismatched prints on the upholstery and drapes. The grounds were in sad need of care-- some basic trimming and WATER would work wonders. The ratty grass and plants were barely alive. Although good sized, the pool was cloudy and not very inviting.
And the room was grossly overpriced! After taxes and such, it was over $120 USD per night, although we did have a "king size suite with kitchenette".....well, not quite--the minuscule refrigerator was broken, there was NO sink or kitchen utensils--not even an extra towel. There was a small microwave and a 4 cup coffee maker. I guess that constitutes a "kitchenette" at this place.
This is part of the "Mision" chain, and they had a slick brochure in the room for their other properties in some pretty impressive locations--they looked nice, too. But after our experience here, we'd never consider another one of this chain.

“Great Value at Modest Price!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2009

This hotel is great value for a very modest price. If you have a car the location is ideal. Very easy to find just off the main HWY 54. Very Quiet.. Close to all attractions and shopping.
Even without a car the bus service seems very good right in front of the hotel. The person from the "Big Smoke " who decried the location is obviously an inexperienced traveller..
The staff here were very gracious and accomodating. The restaurant and room service were very good and if you wanted better but more expensive there are many choices nearby. We did a different tourist attraction every day during our week stay. Except for the trip to the Volcano we could have done it by bus easily. The volcano trip could be done by hiring a cab or renting a car for the day or you can just look out your window if you get a room with Volcano View. The night before we arrived several UFOs were sighted around the Volcano and one of the hotel staff even filmed it with his cell phone!. I saw his film..The pool area was excellent and for normal Canadians the water temperature perfect - approximately 22C ( 75F). They also had numerous games to play ie Basketball and Volleyball as well as some smaller hockey type games and even a secure and safe trampoline for the kids under 10.
This place has everything!!!

“Authentic Mexico”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2009

While I would have to rate the room itself as 'average', the experience as a whole was very good. The room was clean but the bed hard and the pillows thin. Also the shower attachment was not operating at optimum (broken), and very hard to regulate. All that being said, the rest of the property was great with well kept grounds, the bonus of free WiFi in our room, super service in the restaurant and an atmosphere of old Mexico. We could have chosen a chain hotel closer to all the action in the city, but wanted a more authentic feel and were happy with our choice.

“Beautiful facility; Lousy Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2008

We did not book the reservation in advance because we did not know exactly which days we would actually be in Colima. When we arrived, we found a beautiful facility but surprisingly indifferent or insensitive service. The facility was vitually empty of guests. Perhaps that should have been our first clue as to the service we were about to experience. When we inquired about room rates, we were quoted a figure approximately $10 per night higher than that advertised. When we asked about the higher rate, we were told that the lower figure was an internet price and if we wanted that rate, we needed to book the accomodation in advance via the internet. The hotel had its own taxis to take guest to desired local destinations. The driver was very friendly and accomodating but his rates ran approximately twice the local average. When we returned to the hotel after dinner , we took a local city taxi. Upon arriving at the hotel, the local taxi driver dropped us not at the front door but at the servants entrance. When we asked why, the driver told us that City taxis were not allowed to pull up to their front door. The next morning I was treated to a cold shower because of a malfunctioning valve. We didn't even bother to complain, we simply packed our bags and left the premises. I did not even bother to call for assistance from the bellboy. We called for a local city taxi to vacate the premises.

“Nice Hotel For the Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2008

Dont let other reviews scare you off. This hotel is centrally located directly off the cuota road near the new mall Liverpool. The staff try there best to please you. Room service was twice a day, which is nice. The restaurant honestly did not look appetising, They have an internet room which is free. The pool was clean, and we did use it but its not heated. I didnt find this hotel expensive at all, but for the best value you should book online, as when my husband and I extended our stay the prices were double of those we had paid online. The air conditioning is what we went for, since the temperature was over 100 degrees, I would book again at this hotel just for the A/C. For what its worth I would definantly stay there again, Its not a Five Star but its clean, staff was very polite, and the a/c felt so good, and hot water, so in consideration of all the above, I would recommend it.
