My wife and I stayed in this hotel for five nights in April 2006. We found it a very pleasant place, very well maintained, modern, and with friendly service. Our room was unusually large and pleasant, as was the bathroom. The breakfasts were a treat.
If you want a nice hotel in a charming city, this is it. The hotel does not cater to tourists, which pleased us, but you do have to know a bit of Spanish to appreciate it.
As a winter resident of a small fishing village on the Costa d'Alegre, we like to travel to the various cities that are close by. Our favorite is Colima - absolutely the best shoe shopping I have found! We like the centrally located Hotel America. The rooms are clean and the service is good. The restaurant is very upscale as far as amenities...heavy linens, silverware, glassware, etc. Prices for an entree were averaging about $100 pesos.
