On a recent trip to Colima, one of many wonderful small cities in the state of the same name, I came onto this hotel from word of mouth on the street. I had been in the mountains nearby at Lake Maria and came into Colima for the night and ended up staying two! I was very surprised it was a Best Western as no locals acknowledge it. I probably would have chosen another hotel had they! But it is a beautiful old hotel that is quite lovely. We were welcomed warmly from the door to the front desk. Being a "walk in" I was not sure if the prices might be different or even if they would have a room. It was probably more than I would want to pay for a 8 hour stay, but it proved to be a good find. The room was clean, away from street traffic and it was a good stay for two nights. Business services minimal, but working. I would recommend a stay. It was all good. One thing that I would bring to the attention of people who may try this hotel: If you come in late and want to get a bite to eat at the outdoor restaurant, plan to do it an hour before they close! They will be ripping things off your table and loudly start stacking chairs at about 15 minutes before the last person asks for a table. Not good. And breakfast was not included as posted on our rate and confirmed by the front desk. Other than that, a comfortable stay!

This place got very expensive when Best Western bought it. Nothing else changed.

Had to go to Colima to get our daughter a passport. No luck, but the hotel was great. Greeted us with juice when we walked in, which was a little fancy for a Best Western, we thought. It's right on the main square of Colima. Super tall ceilings. Very clean. A pool and even a playground on the roof, which were nice urban bonuses. Got it for 80 bucks a night.

I wanted to visit Colima and stay in this historic hotel. Tried to register through the hotel's web page which did not function properly so sent a number of emails and received positive responses. Received a formal confirmation (without dates listed) that our reservation was confirmed and please send money via a deposit in Banamex (hard to do in Canada). When we got to Mexico I phoned to make the final arrangements about payment. I was told that the reservation confirmation that I received on January 7, 2011 was in fact for a stay on December 22, 2010 (Huh??) and that there was no room at the inn for us because they had a convention. Sorry about that and good luck elsewhere was the only consideration. I'm really not impressed.
