“We didn't want to leave”

I can't say enough good things about Bella Sirena, My wife and I have stayed there twice in a 3 month time period. We just love it.

Everything is maintained beautifully and the staff is incredibly accomodating. It's one of the quieter resorts on Sandy Beach. There were more families than college kids (our first time there was the Cinco de Mayo weekend).

“Beautiful desert oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2008

This resort is amazing! From the moment you pull into the driveway of the resort, you will feel like you are in another world. I traveled with a group of 4 adults over Labor Day weekend. The weather was sunny and hot every day, which was perfect for sitting on the beach or poolside. The resort is very new, so all the buildings are in excellent shape. The grounds are incredibly clean and well maintained. The landscaping is designed to make you feel like you are at a desert oasis, and it succeeds admirably. Scattered among the numerous pools are palm trees, cacti, and well-manicured lawns. There are two infinity pools that look out onto the ocean, and the beach is wide, sandy, and quite clean. The rooms themselves are exactly as pictured on the internet! Tile floors and granite countertops throughout the room. The kitchen had modern appliances and was stocked with everything needed to cook a meal. (pots, pans, utensils, etc.) When I was planning my trip, i found conflicting information on the Internet on the status of the bar, pools, other construction, etc. Let me assure you that everything is complete. All 5 pools and both hot tubs are in operation. The swim up bar is the most popular spot in the resort, and serves typical bar food like burgers, chicken fingers, and quesadillas. There is also a sandwhich shop which serves breakfast and lunch, as well as gelato. That said, there is not a real sit-down restaurant in the resort, but several other adjacent resorts do have very nice options and you don't need to go into the port to get a good meal. Because this is Mexico, everyone is concerned about water, but there was a large 10-gallon water cooler in our room for drinking. Not sure if this was supplied by the owner of our condo, or whether the resort provided it. In addition, we spoke to a former Arizonan who lived in Puerto Penasco and worked at the resort. He told us the resort does treat all of the water coming out of the faucets, so its safe to brush your teeth and wash dishes. Lastly, my group was 2 couples, and we stayed in a two-bedroom suite. BOTH the master bedroom and the "guest" bedroom have access onto the balcony, and look out to the Sea of Cortez. Before we left I did a lot of checking with other resorts, and this was the only resort that has this type of setup. So, if you don't want to have a fight with traveling companions over who gets to wake up to views of the ocean, this was the only place I found. The only negatives of this place are that there are not many activities. Jet skis can be rented on the beach directly in front of the hotel, and ATVs can also be rented nearby. However, the resort is on Sandy Beach, and the only thing out there are other resorts. If you're traveling with children, they may start to get a little stir-crazy after a couple days. If you just want to sit in the sun and relax for a couple days, you can't go wrong with this place. If you're looking to book this place, there are several travel agents that can get you rooms. A couple of the ones you'll find on the internet are based in Arizona. We booked through an agent called Seaside Mexico, who has an office on the property, and they had the most accurate information, and also the best pricing!

  • Liked — the view from the balcony. great pools and beach.
  • Disliked — no phone service! there was a single pay phone at the entrance which cost $25 for international calling

“Beautiful Siren”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2008

Just returned from Bella Sirena, and the place is beautiful. Stayed in a friend-of-a-friend's privately owned condo, which was gorgeous unto itself. The grounds are meticulously maintained, including the pools. Every morning, pool maintenance took care of all of the pools -- three people on the main pool, and one at each of the other pools.
My only gripes are as follows:
1. Pools supposedly open at 7:00AM daily. Pool maintenance was done from about 7:30AM-9:00AM, so the pools opening at 7:00AM was pretty much a moot point.
2. The bar/restaurant at the main pool was quite nice, and prices weren't bad. But with the pools closing at 10:00PM, the attendants at the main pool started telling people that the pool was closing starting at 9:00. It's unfortunate that they don't keep the pool bar and the area in the pool open a bit later.
3. I'm used to renting homes on the outer beaches where it's much quieter. There were quite a few families, and at times the screaming of kids was driving me insane -- thank goodness I had plenty of Sol!
Overall, though, it was a great time!

“1st Time at RP loved it. Bella Sirena is a great choice.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2007

We just returned from our 3 day stay in Rocky Point at Bella Sirena. The Bella Sirena is spectacular we really enjoyed our stay. The one bedroom unit was great for 2 adults and 2 teens and the ociean view was great. There aren't any food services available at the resort but they are coming next year. They do have a poolside grill with a limited menu (a little pricey but the food was good and you didn't have to drive into town). I suggest you bring snacks and simple foods to prepare because it takes about 15 minutes to get to old port or other restaurants and if you just want to hang out at the resort you are sure to get hungry.

I didn't give this resort excellent because we had asked upon arrival for more towels (there were 2 and we needed 4) and were told the maid would bring but it took several trips to the office to finally get some the next day. (This was a little irritating-good thing we didn't need right way). We didn't have a phone in our condo so we had to walk to the office. When booking ask if there is a phone in the unit so you don't have to make trips to the office if you need something. Also, on the Saturday of our trip the heater in the pool went out so there wasn't much swimming going on that day. They supposedly fixed but it takes several days to warm up a pool.

Overall we had a great trip and I would stay at Bella Sirena again. Just make sure you don't leave RP on Sunday or you may get stuck waiting several hours to cross the border. Book a weekend trip that includes checking out on Monday.

  • Liked — The condos were furnished very nice and the ocean view was great.
  • Disliked — No phone in unit and slow housekeeping services.
