“Watch Your Credit Card Charges”

When I checked my credit card statement, I saw that I was double billed. Calls to the their on-line address were to a reservation line only, unable to help. Calls to the hotel directly went un-returned. Their on-line 'contact us' link resulted in a call back from a third party referring me to the reservation phone number only. Credit card company was unable to help. It appears that once they have your credit card number, they are prepared to use it again, with or without your approval. Bottom line, I'm out the extra charge.
In addition, while the hotel was quite nice, it is suffering from a lack of maintenance due to lagging condo sales and upside down owners not paying monthly HOA fees. For a supposed first class complex, many things didn't work...tv's, lightng, spa, and others showed excessive wear and tear.

Room Tip: Although most rooms have ocean views, make sure you don't have to stand up at the side of you wi...

“Beautiful resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

We stayed in building D on the ground floor which I requested due to having children. I was suprised to have the biggest patio and our own private walkway to the pool. Our unit was new, looking like it had never been used. The inside was the nicest resort/hotel room I have ever stayed in. It was picture perfect. We had two bathrooms and two bedrooms which was great for our family of 5. In October 3/4 of the pools were cold and only one of the pools was heated. The jacuzzi wasn't hot like you would expect but very warm. When we came to put our luggage in the room after checkin our room was immaculate. The maid service arrived about 4 p.m. each day just as we were getting back. As in the states, service was uneven. The first day, everything looked great and the maid worked pretty well. The second day, I was in the room and the maid only mopped and swept the floor. We did have clean towels and I asked her to change one of the bed sheets as we were on day three which it says they do automatically but don't count on it. The resort itself is beautiful and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. You wear wristbands for security purposes. The outside showers by the pools work great. The employees will bend over backwards as you would expect at a nice resort. If you aren't happy with your room, they can switch you. If you want a better rate, don't book online, call the resort directly. I liked the location of the Sandy Beach better than Los Conchas as it seemed closer to everything. There are vendors on the beach but they are pleasant and not rude. The breakfast buffet was a decent price and I enjoyed it. The Sunday brunch, which was more expensive, looked great although I didn't eat there that day. I would recommend the resort to anyone.

“Half finished high rises dot the Beach”

Las Palomas is probably the largest of several high rise condo developments along Sandy Beach. They are all pretty similar but Las Palomas has the best security, underground parking and a Golf Course. Of course anyone can use their golf but it is much cheaper if you are staying there ($45 with cart). There are two phases open (1 and 2) with Phase 3 stuck half way completed. There is a gym, several restaurants and two separate pool areas with swim up bars and hot tubs.
Coolers allowed on beach not pool. Plastic bottles and cups OK at pool. Most units include towels but bring a beach towel, sunblock, and breakfast stuff as all units have full kitchen. On site convenience store is sparsely stocked and slightly expensive. Town is 10 minute drive away.

Room Tip: Phase 2 is newer but both are comparable. The best rooms are closes to the water/ beach and are &quo...

“Nice rooms and location, food and service no good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

I have stayed at Las Palomas twice, end of April for 2 nights, mid-July for 5 nights. Rooms are nice and modern. Pools are good; my son loved kids pool. Service both times was not good. They did not clean rooms despite calling front desk multiple times during both trips, yet when it was time to check out we were rushed out starting at 9 am with maids. Where were they the rest of the week while we were staying? Food was not good. We actually left the fancy restaurant because it was terribly slow service and app we ordered was disappointing.
