We have stayed at Hotel Paraiso three times over a two year period. This is a good hotel by Mexican standards. It might rate between a one - two diamond by AAA standards. If a reasonably pleasant but not exotic stay is what you want, this hotel is good for the money. (The hotel typically runs winter specials from US$35.00 - $45.00.)
The amenities are good, including an on-site pool and very reasonably priced restaurant (Aladino's)--even a fresh large bottle of spring water every morning. The outdoor parakeet "zoo" is of special interest to children and their singing adds to the "tropical" feel of the place.
Typically one may find a fixture that does not work, an unfinished piece of repair work, a missing towel perhaps. But the rooms are comfortable and satisfactorily apportioned. A US$10.00 deposit fee is required for obtaining a television remote. But Mexican cable offers little for the English-speaking tourist, and we did not visit Mexico to watch television.
One BEWARE! If you treasure peace and quiet at night, be sure to get a room either in the annex, or otherwise as far from the central courtyard as possible. The noise from the bar by the courtyard is very loud every night (til 3AM) and the bass vibrations reach into all nearby rooms, and can be felt even with the AC on.
