After having been exposed to American craftsmanship, and European Craftsmanship, this hotel exposes it's flaws in all it's glory.

The stairs are uneven, the elevator is frightening, there are measurement flaws throughout the hotel, in everything from the tile on the floor to the angles in the corner, the shower was at a bizarre angles, everything was just off in such a way as to make me wonder about the structural stability of the multi-level hotel. We were on the 3rd floor, and it was interesting, at best.

I've stayed in other hotels in Rocky Point, and this one had the worst carpentry of the bunch, by far.

Other than that, the hotel was OK.

The location of the hotel is great, right on the beach. The food at the restaurant is excellent and the staff is friendly. But the hotel room . . . is in immediate need to be upgraded! The safety lock on the door was broken and the dead bolt did not work! The plastic chairs in the room were full of holes and the paint was peeling off. The plaster was pulling away from the baseboards and more attention needed to be given to cleanliness. The TV is very out-dated and a little package of Kleenex was on the table as was a bottle of water. The shower head was "plugged up" and water went everywhere when turned on. There were no shower mats to step on after showering. The towels were very thin (and scarce) and smelled heavily of soap. More detail needs to be given to cleanliness in the bathroom; the tile in the bathroom was pulling up from the floor and and the tile in general needs immediate attention throughout the room! There was no lighting or lamp on the bedside tables and the sink area needs larger watt lightbulbs (I believe these were 40w)! Very dingy and musty smelling. Overall, the outside patio area by the restaurant is great for sitting and enjoying the beach and having Margaritas! The waiters are friendly and the chips and salsa are very good. If this hotel would show a little more interest in updating their facility, I'm sure they would have a much more favorable rating. The reviews I've read are not good at all!

I did not like because it is getting old and theres no fixing up the place.The room I stayed in the wall by the door was dirty the toilet was stain with what look like rust the lid was not put on right the place were the t.v in smelled gross and the room that my mom stayed in the doors were broken. So I would say do'nt stay at the pb.

Decided to spend a few nights on the beach after camping in Organ Pipe. We hoped for a room on the beach, hopefully beachfront, for $75ish. Most places we went into were condo types and wanted around $130/night. The places were dead for the 3 day President's Day weekend but there was very little bartering. No recession in Penasco. So we were happy to find a 4th floor beach front room for $84. The staff was not the friendliest and the hotel is tired but the bed was good after camping and plenty of much needed hot water. Most of the fancy condo type places would not serve us in the bar because we came in off the beach rather than going all the way around to the main entrance! One nice exception was the Sonoran Sky which has a nice bar and restaurant. So if you want cheap, Bonita was OK. If you want better, try Sonoran Sky. If you want luxury out of town, Mayan Palace looked wonderful.
