Decided to spend a few nights on the beach after camping in Organ Pipe. We hoped for a room on the beach, hopefully beachfront, for $75ish. Most places we went into were condo types and wanted around $130/night. The places were dead for the 3 day President's Day weekend but there was very little bartering. No recession in Penasco. So we were happy to find a 4th floor beach front room for $84. The staff was not the friendliest and the hotel is tired but the bed was good after camping and plenty of much needed hot water. Most of the fancy condo type places would not serve us in the bar because we came in off the beach rather than going all the way around to the main entrance! One nice exception was the Sonoran Sky which has a nice bar and restaurant. So if you want cheap, Bonita was OK. If you want better, try Sonoran Sky. If you want luxury out of town, Mayan Palace looked wonderful.

Not bad for Mexico - Not the fancy resorts that you drive by, but it has that Mexico charm!

It is showing signs of aging, but we did'nt go there for the resort, but more for the beach - which was good!

Wow!!! This is the WORST hotel I have ever seen. We checked out right after seeing and SMELLING our room. It was stinky, moldy and the carpet was wet. There were no towels in the room, no chairs by the pool and half-eaten food in the hallways. The employees were morons and there was no manager on duty. They refused to give us our money back so i will write as many bad reveiws as i can to warn others. Be afraid...be very afraid!!!!

We recently stayed at this hotel based on a friend’s recommendations. This hotel is a total disappointment, where do I start? The people at the reception are not customer oriented at all! The place is old and very run down. Rooms are very, very small and overpriced for the quality of room you get. Maid service is bad. One day they cleaned our room late during the day, we happened to walk in there when they were doing… it only took them about 5 minutes! One night we didn’t have any water in our room. The pool had no heating system so we couldn’t use it. The Jacuzzi was overcrowded since people couldn’t use the pools. The restaurant is decent, however in my opinion is overpriced. This was our first trip to PP so we tried to make the best of everything and didn’t let the hotel ruin our trip. Next time, I will definitely choose a place based on recommendation here not a friend.
