“Better Hotel in HMO”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2007

People expect because they are in Mexico that all things will be less expensive. In Hermosillo this is not the case. HMO is a booming, prosperous industrial and business center for Sonora, as well as the state capital. Hotels cost pretty much the same here as an equivalent hotel in a large US city. My rate at the Araiza was $95 US including taxes. The room was well equipped, very clean and comfortable. The high speed wireless Interent worked very well, though the front desk staff knew little about it. For those concerned with security, this is a very secure hotel where one must pass through the front lobby for entry, and has no side doors. The staff was helpful; a few sufficiently bilingual for directions and information. It is located in the "hotel zone" on Blvd. Kino which is not close to the city center, however getting around is easy. There are many restaurants nearby as well as in the hotel. A hot breakfast buffet was included in the rate, but the choices were meager, though they did prepare omelets to one's order. This is probably the "second best" hotel in HMO after the Fiesta Americana. I have stayed in several hotels in HMO.

“Love it”

My Husband I have stayed in this hotel for many years. We spent our honeymoon there 11 years ago and have gone back ever since. The hotel is clean, the staff is great. I am Mexican born in Hermosillo and that resturant has the best breakfast I ever had. (don't tell my mom or nana) I recomend it to everyone. The worst hotel I have stayed in in Hermosillo is the Gandara, stay away from that place.

“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2006

We stayed at the Araiza recently for a wedding. The hotel was easy to find if you're coming in from the north on highway 15.

Staff was very accomodating, friendly and willing to please.

Rooms were clean but our room the bathtub had a crack that I'm sure was leaking (we were on ground floor) and needing replacement. Still, the rooms were nice and comfortable.

Wireless internet is available for free but as noted on another review worked intermittently. An ethernet alternative would have been nice.

Cabs are available at the hotel and you're 10-15 minutes from centro or downtown.

People in Hermosillo were friendly and we'd be happy to stay at the Araiza again.

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2006

Hotel Araiza is nice, service is good and as opposed to other hotels in Hermosillo (i.e. Holiday Inn, Gandara, etc); the rooms (and the hotel) feel or are quite new.

The only problem I experienced during my stay was that the wireless internet did not work at all. You would be connected for three minutes and it would disconnect, and back again. I changed rooms to the one they assured me was the one with the best reception (231) and it still didn't work properly. This somewhat diminished my desire to stay there next time as access to the Internet was important to my business visit.

For tourists or families, though, it would be a great choice.

“The Araiza Hotel was great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2005

The Araiza Hotel was very good. The rooms opened out onto hallways that overlooked a central open area where the pool was located. It was clean and quiet. The employees were helpful and polite. They had a small restaurant where I had some of the best steak tacos that I have ever eaten. The hotel is located in an area with lots of restaurants and other hotels.
