I've been lots of times in hermosillo, and always stayed in the fancy kino boulevard hotels, but sometimes this hotels get too crowded, and that happened the last time I went there. Some local recommended me hotel kino, a really ancient building located right in the heart of hermosillo's downtown. At first, I was kinda skeptical, I mean, downtown hotels in mexico are mostly crappy, but i most confess this place surprised me. The rate for a really comfortable junior suite was below 70 bucks! It wasn't the waldorf astoria, of course, but the room was tidy and it had wifi connection for free (fancier hotels charge for it). THe front desk staff was extremely courteous, but only two of them were bilingual though. The bellman, this big nice dude named Carlos (or else, i usually forget names!) was totally helpful and polite, told me a lot about the history of the establishment (founded in mid XIX century) and helped me a lot, giving me directions and telling me how to get to the right places, if you ever go to hermosillo, you won't find a better guide than this dude! He seems to know his city very well... The Kino is close to many restaurants, bars and clubs (even a really cool stripclub around the corner), the parking lot is huge and totally safe, the restaurant's food is awful, though hahahah you can't have it all right? But I would definitely stay at the kino in my next visit to hermosillo...
